The creative minds behind the desks at Bethesda have been busy, because today the 1.4 update for Skyrim went live across Steam and Xbox Live. Bethesda is waiting to hear back from Sony regarding the Playstation 3 patch, but they remain hopeful that it will release today. Valve wants you to know that there is no need for alarm due to the recent downtime of Steam. There was simply a power outage and not a repeat of past security breaches in 2004 and 2008 where vital information was stolen from Steam account holders. “Our datacentre’s uninterruptible power supplies experienced a power failure. The power is back on now, and we’re working to get service restored as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”, stated Steam in a message to their users. Capcom released details regarding their upcoming entry into the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 6. The game will be set in 2013 and will have fan favorite with amazing hair Leon Kennedy traveling to a fictional town in China called, Lanshiang. Also making a return to the Resident Evil series will be Chris Redfield who Capcom revealed decided to rejoin his fellow BSAA members in China, because six months prior to the events in Resident Evil 6, Redfield went through a personal trauma. The upcoming Final Fantasy XIII-2 downloadable content will be about baby chocobo loving Sazh. The “Sazh: Heads or Tails” DLC releases on February 28th at 400 MS Points for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 users will get it on February 29th. The DLC continues the story of Sazh and will also add Serendipity Poker and Chronobird to the Serendipity Casino. On February 21st for the 360 and February 22nd for the PS3, Square Enix will be releasing two additional costume packs for Noel and Serah. Do you feel like rewinding a few years or so ago? Bethesda has announced that they are releasing a double pack of games that include Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The pack will release on April 3rd and will cost you $29.99 for the Xbox 360 versions and $19.99 for the PC. If you are planning on purchasing the pack ignore the front of the package that says, “2006 and 2008 Game of the Year Award winners”, because it does not contain the Game of the Year editions of both games that contain all of the DLC. EA’s online download system Origin has been accused of placing a form of tracking software onto your computer to get your personal information, but EA has always denied the claims that gamers had made. After a post in the forum Day One Patch and the responses that follow, is there finally proof that Origin is reading information off of your gaming machine? Hopefully you do not have your Mass Effect 2 game saves floating around in a cloud save, because EA has confirmed that cloud saves will not carry over into Mass Effect 3. EA also stated that local save files that were moved between consoles using cloud saves will not work either. For those of you that have your Mass Effect 2 save files in a cloud save, you will have to import your save onto an original Xbox 360 hard drive and then transfer it manually to a new console with a USB cord or transfer cable. As of April 2nd, GameStop will not accept trade-ins for the system, its games, or any of its affiliated accessories. This news holds some nostalgic value for me, as the GameCube was the first console I ever owned, and Super Smash Brothers: Melee was the first game I bought for it. The Anime/Drama video app was made available on last Tuesdays update, but if you didn’t notice it’s understandable. At the time you had to navigate to the PS3 store and wait for the little logo to pop up in one of the rolling ads that slowly switch out on the store’s front page. A UK newspaper out of Norfolk, England has blamed the Resident Evil series for a vicious murder that transpired back in May. Their reasoning behind the comparison of the murder and the zombie franchise is because the three murders who the media has dubbed the “Resident Evil Killers” tortured a 44 year old man to death by using a pool cue, burned his body with boiling water, slashed his body up, and then carved the letter “J” on the victim’s face. Playstation 3 users have been barking up Activision and Treyarch’s tree shortly after the release of Black Ops 2, due to growing issues of in game freezing and server problems. Keep in mind that the 2010 launch of the first Black Ops was also plagued with similar issues on the PS3. Gamers have been reporting repeated issues of freezing in both single player and multiplayer modes and also not being able to connect to a server when trying to play online. Microsoft has done some back peddling with the "no headset" rule with purchases of the Xbox One outside of the limited edition Day One console. Microsoft confirmed the news that every Xbox One will come with a headset in a blog post on Xbox Wire that included the unboxing of a Day One edition Xbox 360. Splinter Cell: Blacklist Homeland DLC is available today. Priced for $7.00, the Homeland DLC includes new maps, goggles, and an armor and stealth boost. The two co-op maps, The Dead Coast and Billionaire's Yacht were previously only available at launch in pre-orders and special editions, but now you can get your hands on them in the Homeland DLC. Ubisoft has revealed that Ghost Recon Online is receiving a crossover with Splinter Cell and that it is available today. Players will get to use the weapons and gear that Sam Fisher utilizes in Splinter Cell allowing the players to fully customize their character across all of classes.
