Talk about embarassing. EA has announced that Battlefield 3 will have a day one update that gamers will be required to install in order to play the game and that all media reviews of the shooter be held off until a week after it’s release. EA has also added that Xbox 360 gamers will have to download the game to their hard drive in order to see the graphics at their best representation. What is EA’s reasoning behind the day one update? DICE are perfectionists of course! “DICE are perfectionists — they will not stop polishing the game until it is in your hands” claimed EA. Why yes, gamers across the board will accept that giberish especially after the horrible, cheat fi…

Activision's community manager Dan Amrich stated that Crash needs a reason to come back on store shelves and in the hands of gamers and that "fan support is not enough". "The game needs to have a really good reason to exist, Fan support is not enough to get a game made on the level that you're looking for." He further concluded that Crash Bandicoot may not even see a console again. "Now is not …

Cutting fruit. Sounds simple right? Well, when put in game form it becomes an astonishingly addictive concept. You are a ninja whose sole purpose is to cut fruit. Previously it was limited to the mobile market. Deft finger flicks would allow you to slice through fruit and avoid bombs. Can Halfbrick bring this same game play to Kinect? If you’ve played the mobile version, you know the deal here. Fruit is thrown up on the screen and you have to use your hands to slice it. Slicing multiple fruit at once gives you multipliers and you gain more points. Occasionally, game ending or point sapping bombs will be thrown across. Don’t slice those. “Slicing” may be a bit g…

Gears of War 3, the last game in a trilogy that has been the definition of a successful console IP, has been out for only a few days, and it has dominated the game sales charts for September in both North America and Europe. According to Gamasutra.com, the game tops the multiplatform North America and Europe charts, while not fairing as well in Japan since it’s placed third behind Dark Souls and ICO/Wanda to Kyozou Limited Box. However, when only Xbox 360 game sales are taken into account, it comes as no surprise to see Gears of War 3 top all of the sales charts, even Japan’s. Ubisoft Annecy’s multiplayer game director Damien Kieken confirmed the news that there will be no multiplayer beta for Assassin’s Creed 3 claiming that Ubisoft would rather spend time perfecting the game, then putting out a time consuming beta. “To be honest, it’s something we want to do every year because we get community feedback that helps us tune the game. It is also a good reward for the community that has followed us from the beginning. But doing a beta takes a lot of time; we’d need to polish a version, submit it to the platform holders and support it when it’s out. And all the time put into the beta doesn’t go into the final game. Because we wanted to push so many…

Developed by: Iridium Studios Platforms: PC and Xbox LIVE indie games Players: 1 Puzzle Quest proved that adding RPG elements to a tried and true game design like a match three puzzle can turn a game into absolute crack. But what happens when you add RPG elements to a rhythm game? Sequence is a bit of an odd mix. It’s a rhythm game with RPG elements such as item drops, equipment and leveling, but it requires just as much skill progression on the player’s end as it does for developing your character’s level. In the game you must fight a series of monsters and a boss on each of the seven floors of a tower, with your ultimate goal being to reach the top and escape. Thre…
