"Extra" Content Cut From 360 Version of Lost Planet 2
It appears that gamers are getting screwed over again when it comes to being forced to buy DLC if they want to add hours to gameplay. Jun Takeuchi, the producer for Lost Planet 2 has stated that there was "no trouble", but the content was too much for them to deal with. “There wasn’t especially any big trouble. More than those kind of difficulties, the edited content was way too much and dealing with that was more difficult than anything.... This time, truly, the content that was cut was significant." He added that the cut content will probably end up as DLC, but are we really surprised? VG247

Square Enix "Altered" Screenshot Comparisons
Square Enix keeps giving console fanboys reasons to argue over whether the PS3 or 360 will produce the mind blowing graphics that are expected from Final Fantasy XIII. Yesterday Square released comparison screenshots claiming that each photo showed what FFXIII will look like on both consoles. One of the screenshots in particular, gamers took notice that it appeared to be altered, because the screenshots were identical except that the buttons were altered to match the console that the screenshot was suppose to be representing. “Unfortunately we did mistakenly include screenshots taken for pre-production (non-promotional use only) in our latest release of assets. Screenshots from the final game intended for the press kit will be released shortly. As shown in our recent demo tour and Microsoft’s X10 event, there is no material difference between the two consoles.” stated Square Enix. Yesterday on Twitter, North American Square Enix spokeswoman Sonia IM stated that Square is looking into the altered screenshots. "We are looking into how the altered screens ended up in our presskit &will update asap. This was obviously not intentional... Aside from easily being proven as altered, and this method not being one we use, we don't feel there is a need to enhance the X360". VG247

What exactly is Fable III?
Peter Molyneux has said that Fable III is moving on from the RPG category. In fact Fable III is more of an action/adventure title now. "I'm not sure I even call Fable an RPG anymore, certainly not a 1990s RPG, for sure. "In a way, you could look at it and say it's like an action adventure. There's a lot of drama, there a lot of story, there's a lot of emotion in there - but with levelling up. I love that levelling up....." (VG247) This statement was made during Microsoft's X10 event where new details emerged about the upcoming RPG-less game. Fable III will not be sporting a health bar this time around. Instead when your character gets hurt, the screen will begin changing colors like many shooters. Another change is the expression wheel. Long gone are the days of just making muscles and pointing to the bed. Now you will actually be able to fondle (yes fondle), hold hands, and other types of touching to help interact with your people and loved ones. You can even interact with your babies by touching now. Besides the expression wheel being cast off into the shadows, experience is no longer rewarded. Instead you gain experience as your followers grow. Why the need to get rid of experience? Speaking to Eurogamer Molyneux explains that gamers just didn't understand what the orbs meant. "The absolute main reason is that most people didn't really understand it, When you asked people how to get red experience, they'd say, 'I don't know, sometimes it's green, sometimes it's red, sometimes it's blue." How will fans react to Fable III when it is released upon the world? Who knows, but Fable fans better get use to Fable without the RPG factor.

How Many Zombies Have You Killed?
Valve released a statement today about how many zombies have been killed since Left 4 Dead 2 graced the PC and 360. Are you ready for this? A little over 28 billion. "In the first two months of Left 4 Dead 2's release, 28,981,249,043 zombies have been shot, bludgeoned, chainsawed and killed...." stated the L4D Blog How many kills have you contributed to that massive pile up of zombie bodies?

Wesker Added to Lost Planet 2
Are you lost as to why the beefed up Marcus and Dom from Gears of War are appearing in Lost Planet 2? Well be prepared to be even more confused. Capcom has announced that Resident Evil's enemy number one, Albert Wesker will also be appearing in Lost Planet 2 complete with his pretty boy blonde locks. All three of these characters will be available to use in the campaign and in versus mode.

Pay to Play Call of Duty?
That is the question after a recent statement that was made by Activision's Bobby Kotick after the rumor mill has been swirling about Activision making a Call of Duty MMO that would require a subscription to play online. "If you think about the success that we've had in other product categories on subscription, you can get a sense of the direction that we want to take that franchise," Quick to show that they are not down with that decision if it happens, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling released a statement. "This rumor has absolutely nothing to do with Infinity Ward or our games, including Modern Warfare 2. We would never introduce such a system for Modern Warfare 2 so don't worry. Multiplayer will always be equal and free for everyone as always." What does this mean for all of the parties involved if Call of Duty turns into a subscription based service? Not really sure at this point, but what I do want to know is if the people in charge at Activision and EA are drinking the same water. Joystiq

EA Loves Their DLC
It shouldn't comes as a surprise to anyone that EA loves to milk DLC for every penny that they can get. So this piece of news should be expected. EA has officially announced that in the year 2011, every single title that they launch in 2011 will have online features and paid DLC. That’s right folks. Every single title is going to be milked until it is bone dry. Is this a lame attempt to try to keep down the selling of used copies of their games (looking at you Mass Effect 2) or has EA finally gone too far with the love affair for DLC? bit-tech

The Behemoth has released an official trailer for the upcoming XBLA title which has an official name, BattleBlock Theater. There is also a sliver of information about the game via the Development Blog. ESRB Talks About DOA: Paradise in "Creepy" Fashion
Oh how we rely on the ESRB for the initial ratings of games. The ESRB’s recent details about Tecmo’s upcoming breastacular game is…well words can not express it, so have a look see for yourself. “This is a video game in which users watch grown women dressed in G-string bikinis jiggle their breasts while on a two-week vacation. Women’s breasts and butts will sway while playing volleyball, while hopping across cushions, while pole dancing, while posing on the ground, by the pool, on the beach, in front of the camera. There are other activities: Users can gamble inside a casino to win credits for shopping; they can purchase bathing suits, sunglasses, hats, clothing at an island shop; they can "gift" these items to eight other women in hopes of winning their friendship, in hopes of playing more volleyball. And as relationships blossom from the gift-giving and volleyball, users may get closer to the women, having earned their trust and confidence: users will then be prompted to zoom-in on their friends’ nearly-naked bodies, snap dozens of photos, and view them in the hotel later that night. Parents and consumers should know that the game contains a fair amount of "cheesy," and at times, creepy voyeurism—especially when users have complete rotate-pan-zoom control; but the game also contains bizarre, misguided notions of what women really want (if given two weeks, paid vacation, island resort)—Paradise cannot mean straddling felled tree trunks in dental-floss thongs.” This “creepy”, “cheesy”, game full of “misguided notions” was naturally given an M rating. via siliconera

The New Orleans Saints pull the upset and march to a victory over the Indianapolis Colts with a score of 35-31 at Super Bowl XLIV, according to the official Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) simulation run by the award-winning Madden NFL 10 on Xbox 360. The first three quarters display the offensive fireworks that both teams have become known for, with the Colts leading 24-21. A nail biting fourth quarter begins with a big play, courtesy of the Saints’ special teams, when Reggie Bush returns a punt for a 42-yard touchdown. However, with minutes left in the game the duo of Joseph Addai and Peyton Manning put the Colts back on top with a go-ahead touchdown pass. With the game hanging in the balance, Drew Brees hits David Thomas for an 11-yard touchdown and the game winning score. EA Sends Football Fans to Hell With ‘Dante’s Inferno’ in Company First Super Bowl Commercial
30-Second Spot Introduces 100M Viewers to Hell in Fourth Quarter of Super Bowl XLIV REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As the New Orleans Saints make their Super Bowl debut, so too does Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS). On Sunday February 7th, EA will air its first-ever Super Bowl commercial as part of the massive marketing program for the company’s newest videogame franchise, Dante’s Inferno. On Super Bowl Sunday, EA will invite 100 million football fans to join Dante on an adventure that spans all nine punishing circles of Hell; limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. The hell-raising 30-second spot entitled “Hell Awaits…” premieres during the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIV broadcast on CBS on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010. Dante’s Inferno from EA will be in stores on February 9, 2010. “Even within the spectrum of live sports events, the Super Bowl stands apart, almost as a national holiday” EA – a leading interactive entertainment software company – will use the Super Bowl as a platform to expose nearly 100 million viewers to Dante’s Inferno within the coveted 18-34 year old male demographic. EA joins perennial advertisers Anheuser-Busch and Mazda as well as newcomers to the Super Bowl advertising scene such as Time Warner cable channel TruTV, Sprint Nextel's Boost Mobile and Kia Motors. “Even within the spectrum of live sports events, the Super Bowl stands apart, almost as a national holiday,” said Frank Gibeau, president at EA. “The Super Bowl is a bull’s-eye in terms of cross-over to our core demographic and the reach is outstanding. Not only does it draw 100M viewers, but most people watch the Super Bowl live, a rarity in the world of DVRs. While digital outreach to Facebook, Twitter, and online bloggers is a core part of our marketing strategy, we felt that advertising during the Super Bowl is an excellent way to introduce this new game to a massive cross-section of people who are likely already familiar with the “Divine Comedy. Inspired by a classic, but perfect for today’s action gamer. This is entertainment at its best.” EA’s Super Bowl ad caps off a breakthrough marketing campaign crafted to cut through the noise and attract core action/adventure fans to this all-new videogame property. With a focus on engaging players, EA used digital media, bloggers and social networking to build the Dante’s Inferno marketing campaign. The company brought the tagline “Go to Hell” to life using several innovative programs: ‘Go to Hell’ Facebook App – This free app takes the poem’s nine circles of hell, and brings them into everyday life. With the click of a button, anyone can send a friend, foe, place, product or brand to one of the nine circles of hell. Angry at your mom for grounding you? Send her to ‘Treachery’. Mad at your ex- for cheating? Send them to ‘Lust’. Special Edition Book – EA is releasing a special edition of “The Divine Comedy” in partnership with Random House and Del Rey Books. The book features an introduction written by the EA executive producer Jonathan Knight, and a 16-page, full-color art insert showcasing the evolution of characters and environments from the classic poem to the video game. Animated DVD Feature – EA is releasing a full-length animated feature developed in partnership with Starz Media, Film Roman, and Anchor Bay Entertainment. The movie features six unique art styles created by six of the best animation studios in the business (DVD/Blu-Ray). Comic Book – An exclusive six-issue comic miniseries created by DC Comics/WildStorm Productions featuring the highly stylized artwork of Diego Latorre and written by esteemed comic book writer Christo Gage. Collectible Action Figure – A collectible figurine of the hero Dante created by NECA, available as a pre-order bonus at select retailers and for sale beginning 2/9/10. Dante’s Nine Circles Hit the Blogosphere – Beginning in June 2009 at E3, EA brought the game’s nine circles of hell to bloggers, one month at a time. “Limbo” was illustrated with a mock protest. “Greed” was illustrated by bloggers being asked to cash a check for $200. “Heresy” was demonstrated through a fictitious game called “Mass We Pray”. Each stunt set fans buzzing about the core themes of ‘The Divine Comedy’ and Dante’s Inferno, the game. Hidden Messages – Dante’s Inferno online advertising will contain hidden source code and ASCII art, further bringing to life the world of Dante’s Inferno and the hell that lies beneath. Inspired by the first part of ‘The Divine Comedy’ written by 13th Century Italian poet Dante Alighieri, EA’s Dante’s Inferno, delivers a unique visual representation of the nine circles of Hell, once only experienced in the pages of the timeless classic. Dante’s Inferno offers a fully animated experience in which players assume the role of Dante, who descends into Hell after returning home to find his beloved Beatrice murdered, with Lucifer seducing her soul into the underworld. As in the poem, players will descend through Dante’s unique nine circles of Hell: limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Each circle will showcase distinct environments, enemies and story elements befitting of the sins committed by their inhabitants. Developed by Visceral Games™, Dante’s Inferno delivers fast, fluid and responsive combat at 60 frames per second -- a must-have for the action adventure genre. Dante’s Inferno is available for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system beginning February 4th in Europe and on February 9th in North America. Dante’s Inferno is rated M for mature and has an MSRP of $59.95. For more information on Dante’s Inferno, please follow Dante’s Inferno on Twitter at www.twitter.com/danteteam, and visit the game’s official web site at www.dantesinferno.com.
