HAHAHAHA!!! I just blew up my PC here at work!!!

So, um, yeah... this is kind of embarrasing but definitely funny.

It's cold out here today. Granted, it's not THAT cold, but I'm a wuss sometimes. I have a little mini space heater that I keep under my desk for the chillier days so I can stay warm.

Anyways, I usually keep it plugged into it's own seperate power outlet but today I didn't have a spare one since I was using the seperate outlet for my laptop to charge.

I plugged the mini heater's cord into the power strip (which is ANCIENT. LoL) and was working as normal.

15 minutes later? POP!!! Everything fried at my desk that was plugged into that power strip. I've even tried to swap out a working power strip for the one down there and still no luck.

I have completely fried my PC here at work (company property). LoL The printer powers up, and the monitor is in sleep mode, but the PC is toast. I had to call support to send a new one. Kind of funny that the power strip didn't protect it? I have no clue.

So I'm at a different desk today. Ah well! LoL

But ... all that pr0n ?!? TAKE THE HARD DRIVE BEFORE IT'S GONE

Yeah, everything is always backed up on corporate servers so it's no biggie. They just send me a new workstation and I'll hook it up without a problem.

We have 6 workstations here for only 3 people, so I'm just using a different one for now.

Was still pretty funny though. Sitting here, minding my own business and warming up with the heater and POP!!! LoL Scared me at first. hahaha

haha. Pretty funny. Very likely the heater caused a voltage surge/and or shorted out causing a spike. The power strip being ancient ( most are only rated for less than 5 years ) didn't catch it. I've been on the receiving end of that too though. Cept it was my computer :(
