Hulu Plus Coming to Xbox 360 Tomorrow

What was speculation has now been confirmed by Major Nelson.  Hulu Plus will launch tomorrow on Xbox 360 and for one week (Through May 6th), it will be free for all US Xbox Live users.   That’s right, thanks to Jack’s Links beef jerky, everyone (Gold and Silver) will get to try it out for free.  Now go mess with Sasquatch while watching SNL and The Simpsons.

The ads would drive me bonkers. The dashboard is already driving me nuts. Used to be a time on LIVE, that the only ads you saw, corresponded to a contest or content like gamerpics. Now there's feature videos like Major's Minute, sponsored by car manufacturers. We already pay a fee. Why does there need to be any advertising at all? Stick that on the silver account's dashboards.

Add Hulu+ to the mix, and you're paying once again to access something that has ads. But first you have to navigate past the ads on the dashboard. lol

I pay through the nose every month for cable tv that they subsidize with ads every 5 to 7 minutes. At least with Hulu the ads are limited to about 3 sections throughout the show and if it's just a clip of a show it is 1 time right at the beginning. Not saying you're wrong at all, because Xbox is turning in to the same thing honestly. Only a little cheaper. I've been looking for ways to get rid of cable and this just adds to the reasons why.

I had a free week trial with Hulu Plus on the PS3 and considered getting it. There was maybe one or two shows that had a few extra episodes and if you can't live with the most recent episode of The Office then there isn't much difference between Hulu Plus or Netflix. If you have Netflix you really don't need Hulu+, but if you don't want a Netflix account Hulu+ is a good substitute for cancelling your cable. Also I hate paying a monthly service fee AND having to watch commercials, also if I remember correctly it's the same commercial through the episode and that's really annoying. It's a good service but you really need to pay attention to the small differences between Netflix and Hulu. For me I couldn't justify the extra ten bucks a months for a couple extra TV shows I didn't really like.

Jason brought that up to me lastnight with Hulu. We would like to get rid of Comcast for cable, but I was wondering if every show is on Hulu that I watch like True Blood, etc.......I don't use Hulu so I don't know anything about it.

You got that right Chris. We have three HD boxes one with DVR and that crap is expensive, because in order to get the HD boxes you pay extra and then if you want DVR you have to pay extra on top of that, plus the channels, etc....It's irritating!

HULU Plus was added today and will be free for 1 week on XBOX. I have been waiting for this and will check it out once I am home. Check Major Nelsons site for the anouncement.

Edit: Sorry didnt see this was already posted. I have gotten rid of my Satellite as well, with netflix and now maybe hulu I think I will be set up pretty well.

I dumped cable all together a few weeks ago and could not be happier. I am saving close to $100 a month that I can now save or use for something else. There was never anything on. I can't stand all this reality tv anyways. I was so tired of the commercials and in fact I feel like I have more content than I ever had with cable. Netflix has a ton of stuff to watch. We do the $9.99/mo package to get 1 DVD in the mail as well for newer releases.

I tried Hulu Plus as a supplement to Netflix for the week free trial and I did not like it much. I have to pay and still see ads?? Not only that there is not that much stuff on there that also includes some overlap from Netflix so I canceled my trial.

What I ended up doing is hooking up a labtop to my HDTV with a wireless keyboard/mouse setup for anything that I want to access outside of Netflix. Browsing the net while sitting back on my couch on my TV is kinda cool and alot of websites like ABC.com have free content and video podcasts etc to supplement my stuff

I could not be happier! Cut the cord, get rid of cable and never look back! Your not missing anything by doing so.

@Siren

I did not see any HBO content on Hulu Plus. I don't think they can get it because it is HBO and they have just released a new streaming service of their own that requires you to have a cable subscription with HBO to be able to access the streaming part of it. A total deal-breaker for me.

Yeah I'm never sure about the stations like HBO or Showtime when it comes to things like Hulu or Netflix. Maybe they might be available for purchase on Zune, PS3 video network (if that ever comes back), iTunes (or whatever if you don't have iTunes), and maybe on Amazon. But honestly .. I know it's illegal but show from HBO that I want to watch (like Game of Thrones) I just ***** and watch it on the free to download PS3 Network Server. You can get one of the Xbox or hook up an external hard drive.

Son of a *****!! .. I just tried to sign up for this free week on the Xbox and it wont let me because I already had a free week trial when it came out on the PS3 .. I hate you Hulu. I'm so angry I'm going to steal some tv shows from the internet now.

I'm DEFINITELY not going to get Hulu Plus. Watched a bit of it last night. You know what? Two words piss me off.

"WEB ONLY"

That's right. I found a bunch of stuff on there that YOU CAN'T EVEN WATCH. It says Web Only and to visit Hulu.com if you want to watch it. WTF? Why even f*cking bother?

For those that have the service on ps3, is the web only just during the trial? I like the idea of hulu with netflix because it gives you tv shows about the same time theyre on tv while netflix has to wait, in most cases, until it's on dvd. They still dont have last seasons office for streaming yet.

Just make a fake email address dude. Use something like Yahoo or Hotmail. It's super easy. I do when it all the time when I want to play Xbox using my gamertag online and Coy wants to watch Netflix streaming on the other XBox.

I just create an email address on Yahoo (Usually something like NETFLIXFAKE001@Yahoo.com), automatically get a free month of Xbox Live with the new gamertag and I'm good to go to load up Netflix using my regular email address.

I imagine you can do the same thing with Hulu plus, just in a different order. Sign in with your regular gamertag stuff, create a fake email (like HULUFAKE001@Yahoo.com or something like that) and then sign up for the free week trial of Hulu using that email! :):):)

Yeah I thought of that 10 minutes after I posted my rant. I really didn't care that much and honestly I've been watching way too much TV anyways. It was another one of my typing without think responses but my laziness is getting out of hand and I really should read more books anyways.

Wtf there are ads ALL OVER my Hulu Plus demo. Not a great demo if there's ads everywhere. Besides NBC and Comedy Central there's nothing there that appeals to me. Not interested.
