They did something similar to this for Inception. They took older songs that are out of copyright and slowed them down to use in the score. Pretty awesome stuff.

Yea, if you guys like stuff like this check out post-rock stuff like Sigur Ros, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky, Mono, Mogwai, God is an Astronaut, Maybeshewill and others. Pretty much a whole genre based on stuff like this.
