A "monster sunspot" more than 60,000 miles wide could send some powerful solar flares toward Earth on Wednesday, NASA says. The sunspot -- actually a group of four spots, each larger than Earth, and smaller spots -- emerged over the weekend and was spotted by the orbiting Solar Dynamics Observatory and amateur astronomers, Spaceweather.com reported (via Space.com). It tossed off a moderately strong M-class flare today, and is expected to follow up with even stronger flares, possibly even X class. Read on: To infinity and beyond! I love astronomy so I find this stuff super fascinating. I had to look up what an X Flare was, but here it is. (From here Solar flares are classi…

Since 1997, researchers have been able to quantum teleport photons with a major record being set by researchers at the University of Science and Technology of China in Shanghai. In 2010, that team successfully teleported a photon over 16km. Now that same team has released new findings, in which they claim to have teleported photons nearly 100km, or over 60 miles. Now, quantum teleportation isn’t quite the same thing as the teleportation in Star Trek. When researchers teleport a photon, they aren’t teleporting the actual photon, but rather the information contained in it through quantum entanglement. In essence, the second photon at the end of the teleport becomes the fir…

Me: It's been a while since I've logged into I-tunes. When I originally got i-tunes was allowed to link my aim name and used my AIM (aol instant messenger) name to log in and at the time it was Avahra. I tried to recover the password via the birthday and email and it said both answers were incorrect. I'm going to assume something has changed since I last used itunes, and I admit it's been a while. Unfortunately, both my computer and Ipod were both lost in the hurricane. I would like to be able to recover all of my music to a new IPOD but I can't do so without any of this. I need help :| Apple: Standard reply telling me to do everything that I have already done. Me: Y…

This lady was checking out at Wal-Mart and saw kids walk in and then walk out with 3 cases of beer without paying. She chased them down and jumped on top of the car trying to stop them. She didn't, but the cops caught them later. Watch the video if you have some time. She told police that she was tired of the lawlessness. Fox News

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (RNN) - An F/A-18D Hornet Navy fighter jet crashed into an apartment complex near Virginia Beach, VA, sending fuel and debris flying and erupting into flames. Both crew members - who ejected at the very last moment to avoid a nearby school - and five civilians on the ground are being treated at local hospitals. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff. An eyewitness to the plane crash, George Pilkington, said that within two or 300 yards of where the plane crashed, the aircraft emptied its jet fuel, with its nose up, and crashed into a building at the Mayfair Mews Apartments. At least five buildings have been heavily damaged. AP is reporting the fire has…

Chronicling his adventures on Instagram, the Russian photographer composes each shot in a similar fashion. So, I just wanted to vent a little. I'll make it short. It's been months and numerous hardware changes since I last reformatted. So, I thought it would be a good time to do it since I was having some other issues. I thought it could take a while to get everything in order, but the reformat process itself is usually pretty quick. I was sooo wrong. For whatever reason the process didn't want to take and kept giving me errors AND when I finally got it working and booted into Windows 7 I couldn't activate my key. Why you might ask? Because I did a CLEAN INSTALL with my Windows 7 upgrade disc. What did this mean? It means I had to start over, install my old OS and th…

Can't resist posting something this wacky. It's amazing what medical science does these days. Doctors in China saved a man's partially-severed finger - by attaching it to his stomach. Furniture worker Wang Yongjun, 20, cut off the end of his middle finger with an electric saw in an accident at work. Wang, of Liaoyang, Liaoning Province, was rushed to hospital where doctors had to think fast. Dr Huang Xuesong said the muscle and skin had been cut away from the end of his finger leaving only the bone showing. "We had to make a quick decision or he could have lost his finger. We decided to cultivate a new fingertip on his stomach," he said. Doctors operated and attached …
