Now that the investigation has begun the testimonial stage, can Sony point the finger at themselves after recent findings? Dr. Gene Spafford, a professor at Purdue Universtity and a security expert took to the stand yesterday and made claims that Sony knew that their servers were at risk for months, because of out of date Apache software. "....some news reports indicate that Sony was running software that was badly out of date, and had been warned about …

  5. At beginning of November, Microsoft temporarily (until January 2015) dropped the price of Xbox One consoles by $50 and since then has seen a huge spike in sales. So much that the Xbox One has out sold the PS4 in the United States for the past two weeks. When Sony was asked how they felt about the success of the Xbox One consoles following the price cut, they responded by saying they are still in the "battle". "No, not at all. It's going to be a very competitive holiday season. Everyone's going to move their numbers the best way they can. We're going to be fully engaged in that battle," said SCEA President Shawn Layden speaking to Gamespot when asked about if they were f…

  6. Last week, Sony detailed their "Welcome Back" package to PSN users who had their personal information stolen during the PSN attacks. While thus far this has included free PSN Plus and free downloads, they have upped the ante with a free year subscription to Debix, Inc's AllClear ID Plus identity theft protection. Providing up to $1 million dollars in protection, this may help give some a piece of mind that even though their information was stolen, Sony is at least trying to ensure nefarious actions don't take place with your information. The latest Sony blog gives these details of the program: Cyber monitoring and surveillance of the Internet to detect exposure of an A…

It might be a little early for April Fool's day jokes, but Sony has already pulled a fast one on gamers looking to pick up the PSP Go. On Thursday, Sony dropped the price of their PSP Go from $199.99 to $149.99. Today in a rather strange move, Sony took the price cut back and has returned the price of the PSP Go back to $199.99. Sony has not released any statements regarding the price cut and the price jump. (Thanks Chris!) via Gizomodo and Slash Gear Click here to view the article

  9. With the Wii U and Xbox Next in the works, many have been left wondering, what about Sony? Sony was a little more than late to the party when the Xbox 360 launched in 2005. According to Playstation Europe Boss, Jim Ryan, that will not be happening again. “I think we would consider it undesirable to be significantly later than the competition [with the next PlayStation].” Ryan told Eurogamer in a recent interview. Couple that statement with the recent headline from Edge stating that one huge Sony owned studio has halted work permanetly on the PS3 to begin developing the PS4, it looks like the battle of the next gen consoles is about to begin….again. via Eurogamer Twee…

Hot on the heels of Microsoft swatting away rumors that the next Xbox was releasing later this year, Sony has announced that they are in no hurry to reveal anything having to do with the Playstation 4. Sony France CEO Philippe Cardon, told french website Lepoint.fr that Sony will be the last to announce a new console. "The Wii is under time pressure because it's in decline. As far as we're concerned, we're under a lot less pressure. We were the last to release the PS3. We will probably be the last to announce something." Sony has temporarily disabled some accounts that may have been affected by the attempted hack. 19. In a surprising and not so scandalous news flash, Sony's Playstation 3 sales are finally catching up to Microsoft's sales of the Xbox 360. Sony released their financial reports for the Q2 fiscal year and show that the Playstation has moved 55.5 million units worldwide, just about catching and placing them in position to be on the verge of passing their rival console, the Xbox 360 which has moved 56.7 million units worldwide. It is nice to see something good coming out of Sony's camp instead of the usual hackfest that it seems has been haunting the brand since the beginning of the year. via MCV Click here to view the article
