Ever since Activision's announcement of giving Guitar Hero the boot, analysts have not been afraid to let some harsh words fly towards Activision. Speaking to Gamasutra, M2 Research senior analyst Billy Pidgeon said that Activision, "pretty much driven the franchise into the ground with title after title after title." There is no denying that statement. Countless numbers of Guitar Hero games have been released quicker than two rabbits can go at it during a single night session since the first Guitar Hero released in 2005. According to Eric Handler of MKM Partners, the market for these games just isn't there anymore. "It had a great run, but it also had a steep fall and…

The drama continues to unfold between Activision and former Infinity Ward employees Jason West and Vince Zampella. EA has now entered into this legal equation after an email surfaced that showcases a possible private deal made between EA, West, and Zampella on delaying "The Stimulus Package" map pack for Modern Warfare 2 when Battlefield Bad Company released. The email from EA's Lincoln Hershberger that was sent internally throughout EA read, "A couple months ago, I asked Vince to hold back their map pack until after we launched (he owes me one). Given that they've already made a billion, he was cool with that, obviously Kotick took it as being belligerent." EA's spo…

People of Scotland can rest a bit more easier at night knowing that their tax payer dollars are going to fund “Brain Training” for inmates in jail that includes the inmates being given Nintendo DS’s that contain brain training software. The decision made by Scottish officials was the right move because in their minds, inmates have a lessor chance of becoming a repeat offender if they play the “brain training” software on the DS by improving their employment chances. Say what? The government is basing their decision off of a study that was conducted about the education of prisoners. This study also concluded that if children benefit from playing “brain” games on the DS, t…

What's a developer to do when their third installment of their popular series, Resistance sells rather poorly in the United States? Go on the defensive of course. Insomniac Game's Resistance 3 was not as huge of a hit as they might have hoped here in the United States. The followup to 2008's hit Resistance 2, only managed to sell a meger 180,00 copies during it's first month release compared to Resistance 2 which sold 385,000. GamersMint who posted an article detailing their let down first month sales, compared Resistance 3's sales to Dead Island's first month sales which released on the same day. Dead Island happened to move over 2 million copies. So what did Insomni…

Citing a development source from Microsoft, Eurogamer is reporting that the next Kinect will be so accurate that it will be able to read lips. If that turns out to be true, it could not only be a huge improvement on the motion sensing device itself, but also a plus for gamers who are physically disabled and need to utilize more voice commands. According to the source, "Kinect 2 will be so powerful it will enable games to lip read, detect when players are angry, and determine in which direction they are facing." The source is also claiming that it will be able to send more information to the next gen Xbox. " It can be cabled straight through on any number of technologie…

During Microsoft’s CES 2012 keynote speech, it was announced that Kinect for Windows will be launching on February 1st. Amazon currently has the PC Kinect device listed at a sale price of $249.99. The Kinect for Windows supports voice commands and hand gestures and features an improvement over the Xbox 360 Kinect version when it comes to how well the Kinect picks up movements at a closer level which is something many Kinect gamers have been complaining about with some games including the popular workout regime, Your Shape Fitness Evolved series. I myself am one of those complainers and can vouch for the issue with the recently release Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012. On…
