While the jury is still out regarding Heavy Rain's playability (is it just a CG version of the full motion video games of the mid-90s peppered with quicktime events?), its packaging for the Europe-only special edition evokes the fun meta connectivity of the PC adventure games of the late 80s and early 90s. Lionhead Studios is reaching out to Fable fans for their input to help decide the fate of Albion with a survey. The quick survey asks which features like british humor, customizing your character, being a hero, co-op, and more you prefer over the others. You rank each of them from 13 being the highest to 1 being the lowest. Major Nelson announed today that Xbox Live is looking for help from Xbox Live users for network testing in order to improve service. In the Community Channel on the dashboard you will find a new "Xbox Live Labs" tab. You can sign up for the volunter testing from there and with each test you complete, you will receive three different avatar awards that include a lab coat, crazy lab hair, and a brain helmet. You will also hear everybody's favorite "blip" giving you three zero point achievements showing that you completed the testing and have helped out Xbox Live. Why in the world would a director of a highly anticipated game say, "20 per cent of the players will see the last level of the game. It’s horrible to know. It makes the people working on it really really sad,". I have no clue, but Hitman: Absolution's director Tore Blystad made this rather idiotic remark in a recent interview with the Official Playstation Magazine. To Blystad's credit he did say that game was made for people who want to go back and replay it. Those of you waiting for DLC news from Homefront's developer Kaos Studios might not be getting any news at all in the near future. THQ announced that they have closed the doors at Kaos Studios and the UK studio, Digital Warrington. THQ has stated in a press release that their Montreal studio will be taking over the reigns of the Homefront series and that the reasons behind the closings were due to "a strategic realignment within its internal studio structure" and THQ "continues its strategy of aligning the best industry talent with the company's marquee franchises". via Joystiq Click here to view the article

The disaster that seems to be swirling around THQ's day old release Homefront keeps getting worse. Walmart and Amazon have both already discounted the price of the much hyped first person shooter PS3 and 360 versions to $41.96. For Walmart that includes in store and online purchases. Slighty angry gamers can relax a tiny bit when they go to play Kaos Studio's issue plauged shooter, Homefront. Kaos Studios has announced that a patch for Xbox Live has been released to the masses. The patch addresses profile freezing issues and that's about it. For those of you experiencing other issues, Kaos Studios has said that they are hard at work on making other improvements that will be coming out soon.
