EA has recently added language to its end user license agreement that would waive a gamer’s right to engage in a class action lawsuit with, aka “sue”, the company over issues pertaining to its Origin PC service. This same language is used in online-capable EA games like Madden and FIFA online play. The clause goes as follows: “By accepting these terms, you and EA expressly waive the right to a trial by jury or to participate in a class action. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY THIS PROVISION, YOU AND EA ARE FOREGOING THE RIGHT TO SUE IN COURT AND HAVE A JURY TRIAL. YOU AND EA AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A P…

The videogame 'Portal' is no longer for just gamers; with the help of Valve's new 'Learn With Portals' program, it will be given to and used by students as well. For us gamers, the best part of the deal is that Portal is and will remain free until September 20th through Steam. There's not much room for evolution of the match-the-colour puzzle game, but there are many ways to spice things up, which is exactly what Zuma's Revenge accomplishes very well. There's not a big story behind the game, except that you are a frog, and there is an evil presence you have to eliminate by shooting coloured balls out of your mouth to match up with the same colour balls which are in columns all around you, before the columns get swallowed by a mouth of doom (that's what I call it). Sound crazy? That's what this game is, it's a frenzy of sight and sound, but the goal is to get past every one of the 70-some levels in the game by doing the same thing. It will test …

  11. Somewhere if you listen closely you can hear the faint cries coming from fans of the uber popular cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, because the online developer that was responsible for at one time working on both of their MMO’s has closed it doors before the new year began. Good news for at least Firefly fans, DarkCryo Entertainment is working on Firefly Universe Online. However for my fellow Buffy fans, we wil…

Developed by: Techland Published by: Deep Silver Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, PS3 Players: 1-4 Rated M for Mature by the ESRB It's the zombie apocalypse and you're trapped in paradise, or is it hell? Regardless, you must fend for yourself and meet up with other survivors to get through this calamity. Fortunately, you've brought some friends. Dead Island is a four player cooperative open world zombie role-playing game. That's certainly a mouthful, but it makes for a surprisingly fresh concept considering how oversaturated the market for zombie games is. There are plenty of zombie games, and even more RPGs, but surprisingly few hybrids of the two, not counting RPGs that happe…

Today 343 Industries has released a little trailer detailing the ins and outs of the popular Halo 2 map, 'Headlong'. Tweaked and updated as it is for the launch of Halo: Anniversary, the map will still promote the frantic vehicle and sniper gameplay fans loved about original map, now re-named 'Breakneck'. Now, with much of the city eviscerated by the Covenant’s brutal assault, the skyline remains only a shattered ghost of what it once was. Since 2001, I’ve been an avid Halo fan, and some might say, a little too addicted to the entire Halo franchise. Luckily, I’ve been fortunate enough to play the Halo: Reach beta before the general public gets access to it via Halo 3: ODST. Strap your boots on; it’s going to be a hell of a ride! Character CustomizationOnce the Reach menu was shining in all of its glory on my TV, I couldn’t think straight what I immediately wanted to do. Customize my character? Matchmaking? The Arena? I needed to make myself a unique Spartan, so I first headed off to customize my Spartan III. The UI for customizing your Spartan has drastically changed and it’s very impressive. The o…
