  1. There are a few things that I have learned about Activision from a recent pompous and arrogance filled interview between MCV and Activision’s Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg. These “things” are not directly about their video games, brand, or even where they see themselves in the next five years. I have learned that Activision has an over inflatuated opinion of themselves and coming from a company who reported a $233 million loss in the fourth quarter of 2010 is never a good thing. “When you are in the number one position you have a lot of people gunning for you,” – Eric Hirshberg, Activision’s Publishing CEO via MCV I find that statement reeking of wrongs considering t…

Not sure who would want to play as the caped crusader’s sidekick Robin, but if you happen to be a fan of the smaller partner then you might want to pre order the upcoming Batman: Arkham City from Best Buy. Best Buy announced that all pre orders that they receive for the highly anticipated and graphically gorgeous continuation of the Batman Arkham storyline for the PS3, 360, and PC will receive Robin who can be used a playable character in two challenge maps. Yes that is correct. The selling point is Robin for only two challenge maps. via Batman Arkham City UK and Best Buy Tweet This Post Post to Facebook View the full article

THQ announced that they have closed the doors at Kaos Studios and the UK studio, Digital Warrington. THQ has stated in a press release that their Montreal studio will be taking over the reigns of the Homefront series and that the reasons behind the closings were due to “a strategic realignment within its internal studio structure” and THQ “continues its strategy of aligning the best industry talent with the company’s marquee franchises”. via Joystiq Tweet This Post Post to Facebook View the full article

  11. When claims were made that Nintendo’s upcoming new console was going to be more powerful than the current heavy hitters of the console world, PS3 and 360, gamers took notice. However with a recent statement being made by Nintendo that the Wii U will not be have a DVD or Blu-Ray functionality, the Wii U is shaping up to be another child’s toy or retirement home reject. “Wii U does not have DVD or Blu-ray playback capabilitie. The reason for that is that we feel that enough people already have devices that are capable of playing DVDs and Blu-ray, such that it didn’t warrant the cost involved to build that functionality into the Wii U console because of the patents relate…

  13. Double Fine is looking for the publishing rights for their 2005 hit Psychonauts that was previously published by Majesco. Double Fine’s Anna Kipnis jumped the gun early on Twitter by announcing that Double Fine now has the publishing rights to the Psychonauts brand. However Tim Schafer clarified the news by stating that they are in the process of converting all of the rights to the franchise to Double Fine. “It’s true the publishing rights have reverted to Double Fine, but there are some more deals that need to be worked out and contracts that need signing before that actually means anything, financially. After that’s all squared away, we will have some fun stuff to an…

  14. “…from the perspective of once again, Nintendo is putting a different spin on things, showing that it’s not all about graphic fidelity and processing power. In the world of sports, our minds are racing as to how we can bring a sports game to life in a unique way.” ~ EA’s Peter Moore in an interview with Gamasutra Recently, EA’s Sports Division head honcho Peter Moore sat down with Gamastura and discussed the techonology of the Wii U and why offline gaming is a thing of the past. “My dev teams — their heads are exploding, in a good way and a bad way,” Moore responded when asked about Nintendo’s new entry into the console war. “How do we look at this new technology? 16. Want to roll the dice and see where it lands when it comes to buying a new Xbox 360? GameStop has announced that as an online special only, gamers can purchase Xbox 360′s for a low price of $99. Before you pull that credit card out there is a catch. The Xbox 360′s that are on sale are refurbished and are the 20 GB Pro models. Keep in mind that you would have no way of knowing if the refurbished console that you may be thinking of buying during this sale suffered from the enormous three red lights or better known as the ”RROD” outage that plagued Microsoft for the first couple of years that Xbox 360 released. 18. Duke Nukem Forever may have taken years to come out, but it did not take the poor reviews of the game long to come in. Critics have been outspoken with their disappointment of the game and many reviewers have been giving Duke an embarassing 5 or below. Firing back at those critics are Gearbox’s outspoken CEO Randy Pitchford and Duke himself. Well at least his voice actor anyway. “I have no comments regarding bad reviews by clueless critics. They seem to want to compare Duke Nukem Forever to Call Of Duty and other FPSs and they are missing the point. My thoughts about Duke Nukem Forever: It freakin ROCKS! Lots of action, lots of fun, sexy, funny, irreverent… It’s eve…

  22. Depends on what you consider exclusive, but RPG Site is reporting that Microsoft bought the exclusive rights to the JRPG, Tales of Vesperia that released on the Xbox 360 in August of 2008. The game also released on the Playstation 3, however Japan was the only country to receive it on Sony’s console. This news was made recent after a public Facebook posting made by Namco Bandai’s Community Manager, Charlotte Toci which happened to be directed towards a fan asking a question regarding a PS3 version was never seen outside of Japan. “Microsoft paid for the exclusivity the same way Sony paid for having Heavy Rain only on PS3. It’s just one way the business works, sadly.” …

Developed by: Cold Beam Games Published by: Cold Beam Games Platforms: PC, PS3 Players: 1-2, online and offline Rated E for Everyone by the ESRB Beat Hazard in itself was an extremely fun music visualizer slash space shooter often compared to Geometry Wars. Rightly so, as the basic gameplay is much the same, with the onslaughts of enemies coming at your omnidirectionally firing ship, equipped with devastating, screen clearing bombs. The twist is that the gameplay is powered by your music. Your firepower is immediately influenced by the intensity of a song, while enemy and boss spawn patterns are determined by various factors throughout the entire song. Every song g…
