The Era of the Personal Computer Is Over

Featured Replies

And here I am with my fancy high end PC and stone age phone that just pretty much makes phone calls and texts.

Yep. That nailed the turn over rate with their smart phones. Without any control over what goes into it you pretty much are left at the whim of the manufacturer. And how easy is it to reign back the features and trickle them out every couple of years for 600 a pop.

The good things with smart phones, Android specifically, is being able to root them and flash custom firmware. The community is really good with keeping the firmware better than Sense and other things HTC and other companies come out with. Sure, they can't upgrade the hardware, but the phones are already pretty ridiculous as far as hardware specs go.
