Dad Threatens To “Whoop” Young Son Over Mirror’s Edge and Purple Controller, Older Son Lets Loose

Featured Replies

In a gaming world where gamer stereotypes are abundant and the thought of being accused of not being a “hardcore” gamer would bring some to tears, you find a gem like this.

An unidentified father threatened to “whoop” his young son over purchasing Mirror’s Edge and a purple controller all of which was a gift from his older brother.  This all unfolded at a gaming retail store right in front of the manager Kristin Wolfe.

Kristin who blogged about the incident after it happened said that the older brother who appeared to be around 15 had brought his younger brother into the store to buy him a game.  She helped them pick out Mirror’s Edge because he wanted a game with a female lead character and also wanted a new purple controller.  As they were about to make their purchases the father walked in and became a little more than irate when he saw that his son wanted a game with a female lead character and a purple controller.  The father then attempted to get his son to buy “more manly games like Dead Island” and then threatened to “whoop” him right there in the store if he did not listen.  Fortunately for little brother, big brother stepped in which led to an exchange of words between father and son who told his father that if he was going to hit anybody it would be him and left the little brother in tears.

Wherever this little boy is, I can only hope that he is enjoying his new game and playing it with his brand new purple controller with a big smile on his face.
