December 15, 201114 yr comment_50139 Congress is voting today on SOPA. If you have a moment, you should take five minutes and call your Congressional representative now! Here is a VERY easy way which practically does everything for you.http://engineadvocacy.com/voice/Enter your name, phone number and zip code and the site will automatically call you and connect you directly to the Congressional switchboard. When the operator answers, ask to speak to your local representative. They will ask for your zip code and connect you.You will probably get a secretary, but if you're lucky you may get to speak directly to your representative.Tell them to VOTE NO TO SOPA! Tell them to take a look at the Occupy Movement and respect the wishes of the voter and not bow down to corporate influence.Make your voice heard people. SOPA is bad for all of us. Report
December 15, 201114 yr Author comment_50146 Use the tool and call your representative. It's super easy and will take less than five minutes if you have the time. I already called Maurice Hinchey (my Rep.).I know it probably won't do much, but actually calling your representative is in my opinion better than a letter. Just be calm and state why you think SOPA is bad for the public. Report

December 16, 201114 yr comment_50217 Gave good ole Barney Frank a call. Got his secretary, nice guy sounded pretty young tho. He couldn't say how Frank was voting but he did say that they've been getting a lot of calls from constituents regarding this bill. I shared this with a couple of my friends and it seems like is is working, it's a real good service, I wish I had known about it before. Report
December 21, 201114 yr comment_50582 Mozilla, the company behind awesome software like Firefox and Thunderbird has a lot of tools to help educate you about this horrible bill. If you don't like making a phone call, the option this sites gives is to send an email your local congressmen. Here is the link: http://www.mozilla.org/sopa/After doing more research on this, I realize this could seriously KILL the internet as we know it. I'll be sure to use the system above tomorrow to do this. Report
December 21, 201114 yr Author comment_50587 THANKFULLY, the vote is on indefinite hold at the moment. It was hilarious WHY it happened too, but it's so true.http://news.cnet.com...ffensive-tweet/Representative Steve King (Rep - Iowa) tweeted the following: "We are debating the Stop Online Piracy Act and Shiela Jackson has so bored me that I'm killing time by surfing the Internet."Unfortunately though, the did get through most of the stuff in the bill and pretty much left the whole thing intact with all of it's internet-breaking abilities. I truly hope this one doesn't pass completely but to be honest the ONLY reason it will is again because Congress peddles to the wealthy and corporate powers. Report

December 22, 201114 yr comment_50645 It's a damn shameful nightmare what they are concerned about. Rights violating bill? Sure whatever there's big money behind it. But god forbid someone call me boring. Something has to be done about this insanity. Report
December 22, 201114 yr comment_50646 Saw this on Twitter and found it funny, yet scary.Under SOPA, you could get 5 years for uploading a Michael Jackson song, one year more than the doctor who killed him. Report
