New Sonic Game Announced

All this week Sega has been teasing about “big news” coming to Sonic the Hedgehog’s Facebook page.  Fans of Sega’s favorite blue chili dog eating hero start tapping your feet, because Sonic is back in a new game coming to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

The colorful 3D teaser trailer which you can view checking out Sonic’s very own Facebook page, shows Sonic speeding along, leaping from platform to platform only to make one big jump and another blue Sonic appears beside him.  Does this mean the new game will be co-op or has Sonic gotten a speedy doppleganger?

I'm a huge Sonic nerd, but it's hard for even me to get excited about Sonic games anymore. The last true Sonic titles where the Advance games on GBA. And Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 where the last real Sonic epics. I'd be far more pumped if Sega would announce a new Phantasy Star or Shenmue game.

The other Sonic is just a 3D model of the 1991 original. It was just paying homage to how the series has changed in 20 years. The best tribute Sega could give for the 20 anniversary, is to release a good Sonic game.

No kidding... the last good sonic game was SA2

That actually looks pretty good. Maybe Sega's come to their senses and decided to scrap the episodic Sonic 4 and make that as one big retail title combining new and classic elements?

They could make something pretty epic if they listen to their fans and bring back the old Sonic and stop making games for eight year olds.

Foot in mouth, it does have two Sonic's. And for the first time in a while Sega looks to be making a good Sonic title.

Sega's still doing the episodic content for Sonic 4 thing, but this game looks to be much much better than Sonic 4 Episode 1 was.

I dont get my hopes up for sonic games anymore. When a new one comes out I check the reviews if they ever got a good score I would prob buy them but there hasnt been a purchasable one since ssonic adventure 2 (anyone who has played that POS on the 360 afew years back will surely share my disillusionment with SEGA).

I've always enjoyed Sonic just for its style of gameplay so I'll probably give this one a shot.
