April 7, 201115 yr comment_34277 I don't know what they'll really get out of this honestly. Good on them for taking on Sony though. Was stupid of them to remove Linux and other stuff from the console IMO. Even though a majority of people didn't use it, it was there and accessible to those who did want it. Even the military was using PS3s running Linux for supercomputer purposes. Report
April 7, 201115 yr comment_34286 That's why this lawsuit is scary. Sony wins, and the idea that you buy something, but don't necessarily "own" it to do as you like becomes precedent in a court of law. Report

April 7, 201115 yr comment_34308 Interesting. And just a heads up, I watched that video on Youtube in fullscreen, and when I closed the fullscreen all of the text in my Firefox browser was glitched and looked like braille, requiring a restart. I've never seen that before, I hope it's not something malicious. Report

And yes, I realise there is a huge difference between that and jailbreaking a PS3. Terms of Agreement come with most every purchase we make. So, I also understand Sony wanting to protect it's intellectual property from jailbreaking, because it will inevitably lead to more insidious hacking and system exploits. But, to go after people for only making their Playstation do what it was capable of doing before the system patch and newly released Slims, is completely *** backward. The stuff that is blocked now, was stuff they marketed that platform on before it's launch. So, Sony going after people for that, just doesn't make sense to me. Report
