My mom wants a new lap top. All I know is she wants to have word and office on it. And she wants it to play movies. She isnt going to play games so what would you suggest?

How much is she willing to spend? For just Office and Movies you could probably go for one between $400-$500 or $700 for good measure. Tell her that it is probably cheaper on the internet but, especially for laptops, its good to go in to a shop and get a feel for what the different brands look and feel like to use.

what is she actually going to use it for? If all she does is check the web and send emails and watch movies then maybe she should get a tablet instead. Also how good is she with computers and is there someone there (like you) that can help her trouble shoot?

Here's a good one that will do most anything and for a really good price. Granted this is only a tower, keyboard and mouse, I assume you're replacing one you already own, so you probably have a monitor.
