October 22, 201015 yr comment_21815 So I got some awesome news in the mail yesterday!!! I've finished paying off another student loan!! WOO HOO!! (you can skip this part)Okay here's a small back story .. Since I'm Canadian and wanted to go to school in the USA (New Jersey) my loan was split up over 3 different places. One was Royal Bank of Canada (RBC for my Canadian brethren), the other two were from the province of British Columbia, and one from the federal government. So I had 3 loan payments to make a month. It got kinda messy when I moved to the USA 7 or 8 years ago because we (me and the loan offices) had to figure out a way for me to make payments and have them accept it. Companies or government are not allowed to access bank accounts from other countries so automated payments were out of the question. I was mailing my Dad cheques to deposit for into my RBC account to make the payment but he decided he didn't feel like doing that anymore (AND DIDN'T TELL ME) so that created a mess. So talking to all the different loan offices we all figured out that post dated cheques were the way to go. Every year I would write out 12 cheques for each loan office and forget about it. Sometime in the summer (June I think) I finished paying off the RBC loan .. and yesterday I got a letter saying I'm done paying off the Federal Loan!! HOT DAMN .. that's an extra $80 bucks a month I get to keep!! And as far as the last BC student loan goes I think it's close to only $500 or $600 left. I could pay that in full tomorrow and be done with it but I might just keep making monthly payments since it's only $40 buck a month.Oh I'm so excited!!! .. in just a few short months .. maybe even this year I'll be done with the last of my student loans and then Tam and I will be DEBT FREE!!!
