Publisher 2K announced every copy of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, which ships next Tuesday, comes with a free membership certificate for the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club.

This membership gives players access to "exclusive items," including an early playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever before it's public release.

2K did not say when the demo would be available, only confirming it'll be out "prior to the retail launch of the game," which is still marked for calendar year 2011.

Borderlands Game of the Year Edition ships on October 12 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The pack includes all four downloadable add-ons: The Zombie Island or Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, and Claptrap's New Robot Revolution.

What do you guys think? I might get the GOTY edition, I need most of the DLC anyway. The demo is a super cool added bonus, as well as other "Exclusive Items".

Already have all the DLC, yet I have a copy of the Game of the Year Edition pre-ordered.

Just another reason why Gearbox is so awesome.

Just an update I just found out about!

What the press release failed to mention is that anyone who bought Borderlands on Steam -- no matter the edition -- also has access to the DNF First Access Club. If you open your Steam game library and select Borderlands, you should see "CD Key" on the right, which displays the codes for your Borderlands DLC as well as the DNF First Access Club. The club doesn't appear to be open just yet, and we're not sure when it will be. It's also unclear when non-members will get the demo.
