Watching the gaming portion of Microsoft's keynote at CES 2010 was quite disappointing. There was only one new announcement (Game Room) and then retreads of trailers for Halo Reach, Alan Wake, and Crackdown 2. There was mention of the Modern Warfare 2 DLC coming this spring. I was very disappointed with what was shown (Or blacked out if you watched online) during the entertainment portion of the keynote. You can head over to Microsoft's New Center to watch the full keynote and a few of the videos shown. Link to News Center Click here to view the article

Microsoft announced at CES that Project Natal will be released this holiday season. No definite date was nailed down, nor was a price mentioned, or even a real name for the technology. I'm guessing closer to release we'll get more info. Stay tuned to Gamercide for updates as we get them. Click here to view the article

  3. EA's online download system Origin has been accused of placing a form of tracking software onto your computer to get your personal information, but EA has always denied the claims that gamers had made. After a post in the forum Day One Patch and the responses that follow, is there finally proof that Origin is reading information off of your gaming machine? User forsayken claims that when he booted up Origin to play Battlefield 3, he took notice that Dead Space 2 appeared, however he claims that he downloaded Dead Space 2 four months ago off of Steam. Turns out from the responses, others have taken notice to the same thing happening to them with other Steam purchased gam…

  4. Talk about embarassing. EA has announced that Battlefield 3 will have a day one update that gamers will be required to install in order to play the game and that all media reviews of the shooter be held off until a week after it's release. EA has also added that Xbox 360 gamers will have to download the game to their hard drive in order to see the graphics at their best representation. What is EA's reasoning behind the day one update? DICE are perfectionists of course! “DICE are perfectionists — they will not stop polishing the game until it is in your hands” claimed EA. Why yes, gamers across the board will accept that giberish especially after the horrible, cheat fi…

  5. Mario, a character that has been around since 1981's classic Donkey Kong and not to mention the face of Nintendo, has fallen under attack from one of the mosted hated groups ever comprised of people who need a mental examination, PETA. Instead of concentrating their efforts on animal poachers or saving the rain forest, PETA has decided that Mario is a fur hating, animal killer all because of the popular Tanooki suit that resembles a tan raccoon. PETA has even launched a Mario Kills Tanooki website that depicts the fan favorite character taking a real like Tanuki raccoon dog, holding it's decapitated head, and dancing in it's blood while the head is some how crying despit…

  6. EA has announced that NHL 12 has broke the series record for highest number of sales in it's first week of being on store shelves. The standout hockey title generated $27 million retail sales worldwide in it's first week and so far gamers have shown their appreciation for the game by logging in more than 6.9 million online games during that coveted first week. The fan response to NHL 12 has been incredible, and we’re delighted to expand the franchise to Facebook next month,” said Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice President, EA SPORTS. “NHL 12 is our most exciting hockey game ever, with more than 300 gameplay improvements and the ability to play with some of the NHL’s greates…

Real Steel staring Hugh Jackman might be getting attention for it's intense and almost futuristic robot fighting action, however a pair of good eyes spied an Xbox 720 logo in the back of the arena where the robot fights take place. Watch the video and you'll see towards the 46 second mark it appears quickly in the background. Could this be Microsoft beginning to advertise for a new console? Before you start shaking your head and moaning about the low exclusive DLC is going, it gets even better. The Liara figurine will cost you $60 if you want the DLC. 15. This Dumbass of the Day is being brought to you by Bastal, a user on the Bioware's Dragon Age 2 boards who thought he was speaking for "straight males" everywhere when he complained that Dragon Age 2 is geared more to gays, females don't play games like Dragon Age, and to top this asinine rant off, Bioware needs to stick with making straight males happy, because that is their main demographic. Unfortunately for Basalt, David Gaider the Senior Writer for Bioware was around and turned his moment of dumbass-ness into one of the best pieces of verbal beatdown that one has every seen. Let's take a look at what led to this moment when the a know it all gamer gets his diapers…

  17. It's not very often that any of the writers here at Gamercide post about anything but gaming news. It's also not everyday that we're all this excited about something or someone. In this case, it's Dillon Hodges. Musician, singer, and songwriter. I've wracked my brain trying to remember where I first came across " ". I'm sure it was on his website, but I don't recall what led me there. If it was social media, I'm glad. Social media (in this case Twitter), is how I came to learn all about the man and his wonderful music. We've shared a few lines of text with each other, and his beautiful fiancé even thanked me for helping spread the word. He's a gracious man, and from what…

RedLynx, the creators behind the ever so popular and madly addiciting arcade game Trials may have been aquired by Ubisoft this morning, however that is not stopping them from working on their continued relationship with Microsoft to get the next bone breaking Trials game out the door. However fans who have been waiting for an announcement on a release date for the next game in the must have series, Trials Evolution, might have to wait a bit longer, because it appears that Trials has fallen under the "when it's done" trap. RedLynx's Jason Bates announced shortly after the aquisition went public that the game will release whenever it is completed and that Ubisoft is respec…

Gamers have succeded where scientists have failed. It's been over a decade since scientists have set out to break down a protein called protease that allows AIDS to multiply. Three weeks ago scientists reached out to the University of Washington's program "Foldit" which takes science figures and turns them into competitive games. It took the student gamers a little over three weeks to build models of the protease protein and scientists have hopes of being able to use their computer models to aid them in developing new HIV drugs. While most websites are getting together their top [enter random number here] gaming lists of 2011, I decided what better why to usher in a new year then to go over the list of disappointments from the gaming industry for the 2011 year. I waited so long for this as did many fans of the series and then once I got my wanna be gangsta hands on it I was left saying, "What the f*#% did I just play?". Between the hig…

The mystery deepens as EA continues to taunt Assassin's Creed fans by releasing small images on Assassin's Creed official Facebook page that flash symbols, numbers, and show what appears to Altair. The latest reveal which appeared yesterday shows fans an assassin that appears to look like Altair. When the image starts to turn fuzzy glimpes of a double headed eagle carrying a sword and shield appear making some wonder in the comment section of the Facebook page if this game will feature two assassins instead of just one. The first two reveals have also led gamers to question if the game will be set in Istanbul, why Ezio's birthday appears in the second reveal, and if the …
