Gamestop has announced their new "PowerUp Rewards" program, which rewards its members for spending money in their stores. Standard membership is free and entitles you to earn points against every dollar you spend, and oddly rewards more for purchasing pre-owned games, accessories and consoles. Gears of War 3, the last game in a trilogy that has been the definition of a successful console IP, has been out for only a few days, and it has dominated the game sales charts for September in both North America and Europe. According to Gamasutra.com, the game tops the multiplatform North America and Europe charts, while not fairing as well in Japan since it's placed third behind Dark Souls and ICO/Wanda to Kyozou Limited Box. The man that has enforced Xbox Live’s policy to millions has decided to leave his 17 year position at Microsoft. Stephen “Stepto” Toulouse made the announcement on his website saying that Febraury 15th will be his last day on the job. “Despite the wonderful ability in Microsoft to change careers pretty dramatically inside the company, I’ve been there nearly 18 years and it’s the only world I’ve really ever known. Releasing later this spring, Girl Fight is well as the title implies girls fighting and will feature long legs, flying hair, and sexy vixen-esqe fighters. The female only fighters will be customizable with characters skins, abilities, and codex entries. Starting June 17th the kiosk based movie rental provider, Redbox, will finally move in to the games market at all it's locations. With over 21,000+ locations nationwide, the $2 per day rental fee seems like a pretty decent price point. Selections will include select games for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the Wii. EA and DICE have announced that new downloadable content is on the way for Battlefield 3. First DLC that will be available in June is Close Quarters which includes, you guessed it “CQ” style multiplayer maps, weapons, dogtags and new assignments. Months after that gamers will see Armored Kill which happens to be DICE’s hugest multiplayer map ever for a Battlefield game. New vehicles will also be introduced. Fable Heroes will be launching prior to Fable: The Journey and will feature four player co-op and will also tie in with Fable: The Journey by using unlockables and avatars.
