New figures from the NPD group are showing that the Xbox 360 is leaving the competition behind as it pulls away in terms of online game sales and game point cards that sold in stores. The graphs that were released by the NPD group today showcase that the Xbox 360 has had a steady and continuious rise in the number of online games and point cards that are being sold since 2006. Some Xbox 360 gamers had the unfortunate discovery this morning of their achievements going missing or their entire gamerscore reset to zero. Since the announcement this morning Microsoft has said that they are aware of the issue and are working on it. They do offer a few suggestions such as signing in and out of Xbox Live and also recovering your gamertag onto your console. The Producer behind Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, David Cox has announced on Twitter that the followup to 2010's Castlevania: LOS will indeed be releasing on the PC. Castlevania: LOS was only released on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The details on the sequel are unknown except for a tiny tidbit of information that Konami revealed at this year's E3. (If you have yet to play the Castlevania: LOS or beat it, you might want to skip this part) Gabriel is back as Dracula and the Belmont family is out for his blood. EA and DICE were bitch slapped by a person claiming to be a 15 year retired SWAT team member in an open letter that was posted on the Battlefield 3 forums. Ubisoft Annecy's multiplayer game director Damien Kieken confirmed the news that there will be no multiplayer beta for Assassin's Creed 3 claiming that Ubisoft would rather spend time perfecting the game, then putting out a time consuming beta. Today Ubisoft announced that both Splinter Cell: Conviction and R.U.S.E. have been delayed in to the companies next fiscal year. While Splinter Cell was given a release date, R.U.S.E. was given no tentative date. The hackers vs. Sony battle continues as Sony's SVP and Chief Information Officer Philip Reitinger made a short announcement late yesterday evening stating that hackers were once again attempting to compromise Sony's Playstation Network and Entertainment Networks. Sony has temporarily disabled some accounts that may have been affected by the attempted hack. Whether or not you believe that the attacks came from another source other than Sony is up to you to decide, but at least this time Sony is giving their users the heads up instead of waiting for a few weeks to pass like they did during the huge Sony hack that took the Playstation Network and accounts down for weeks. …

Just in time for the upcoming holidays, Sony has announced that they are adding new models to their Playstation 3 lineup. The new slimmer, much lighter versions of the Playstation 3 will come in three models; the 500 GB, 250 GB, and a 12 GB Flash Drive model. Sony has also confirmed their release dates of the new models. The 250 GB PS3 will release on September 25th and will cost $269. The 250 GB model comes with Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception Game of the Year Edition and bonus content for Dust 514. Playstation 3 users have been barking up Activision and Treyarch's tree shortly after the release of Black Ops 2, due to growing issues of in game freezing and server problems. Keep in mind that the 2010 launch of the first Black Ops was also plagued with similar issues on the PS3. Gamers have been reporting repeated issues of freezing in both single player and multiplayer modes and also not being able to connect to a server when trying to play online. Sega has just posted on their blog the release dates and prices for the HD remakes of NiGHTS into Dreams and Sonic Adventure 2. The uber popular and one of the top selling games for the Sega Saturn, NiGHTS into Dreams will be releasing on October 2 for the Playstation Network and on October 5th to the Xbox Live Marketplace. It is priced at $9.99 or 800 MS points.
