May 28, 201313 yr comment_76802 No, really. But a cool one. Been missing lately more than the norm, because Minon's been training for Battle of the Nations - and I've been both helping out and training alongside him. I'm not going to do it, but can't hurt to build up stamina, right? In case you're wondering what it is, it's basically REAL LIFE Chivalry. And it's pretty awesome. It's essentially a stamina battle, and once you're down on three points, you're considered "dead". It's pretty freaking brutal. There's no "safe" areas, so headshots, everything are valid just like an actual battle. You have to have high grade armour too. Minion's forging some of his own - but things like the helmet etc will definitely need to be purchased. BUT YEAH. SO. THAT'S WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO. He'll still be at it when summer hits, I'll be inside with the lights off and the air on, lol. Report

May 28, 201313 yr comment_76806 That is pretty sweet, looks rough though. Do a lot of injuries happen? Report
May 28, 201313 yr Author comment_76807 Considering how many injuries the both of us get with normal steel combat, this is probably going to be 200x worse. You're required to have at least 12g stainless steel for the 5v5 / 21v21 fights (which is what he wants to do) and about an extra inch for a shitton of padding. If anything, injuries are probably concussive / bashing related since the blades are all dulled. The best part of this is we get to go to Europe if he's accepted onto the team. So yeah, training ahoy! This won't be until late next year for the tryouts (already happened this year, plus we can't afford jack shit anyway) so that gives us time to finish basic training, then work our way up to insanity / crossfit etc etc etc. Panda - you're probably thinking of the SCA, which is over here in the states. Unfortunately there's no US-based stamina battles, which bums us out. The SCA is more hardcore than our steel combat (in my opinion) but they utilize rattans instead of steel. Doesn't hurt any less when you're getting whalloped with it, let me tell you. SCA gets nutty however, because the numbers can get RIDICULOUS. They work on a point system for eliminating people (and it's an honour system usually) That's SCA in a nutshell. Report
