Russia's Meterorite storm

Featured Replies

I know it's probably a bit early to know (if ever) but I have so many questions about this.

Did they see this coming?

HOW BIG was this thing before it entered out atmosphere? Usually they just disintegrate and make sparklies

They have any idea how fast it was going? Could anything have changed to make it make actual impact? etc

Anything on the asteroid supposed to pass by about ten minutes ago? Nasa was supposed to live stream it, but im at work.

Where should budding doomsday preppers be looking if they want to catch a glimpse of DA14?

It'll be between the handle and the bucket of the Plough at around 9PM,
so if you look in there with binoculars or a small telescope, you
should see something move. To put the speed of this object into
perspective, it covers the same distance of how the full moon appears in
the sky about every 45 seconds. So, every 45 seconds, it will have done
a moon-sized jump. It keeps moving so you actually don’t want something
where you’re really zoomed quite close—you’d want a big wide view to
see it.

No one saw this coming. They said it was because it was in the view of the sun.

It was 10 tons when it entered our atmosphere.

That's all I got, except for this crater it left.

HOw do they KNOW it was 10 tons? Like how do you determine that if it exploded above us?

I also thought it didn't make impact on land?
