CD Projekt on Witcher 2 Sex Scenes, It’s All About Creative Freedom

Featured Replies

Witcher%202.jpg?m=1332172367CVG recently interviewed Polish video game developer CD Projekt on their upcoming release The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings and the minds behind the game were not tight lipped when it came time to talk about the controversial sex scenes.

Marek Ziemak, lead level artist said that video games are evolving and are not just for “small children” anymore.  He also said that this about creative freedom.

“We’re using all the stuff that’s being used by other authors and creators like writers or movie directors. It’s not about delivering sex just to have sex in your game, it’s about creative freedom and having the same opportunities and using the same weapons as all the other creative people.”

The Witcher 2 is set for international release on the Xbox 360 on April 17th and the Playstation 3 on May 17th.

I think one of the reason's people have an issue with nudity in video games is that it doesn't happen very often. People have come to expect it in movies, tv, etc.... But with video games it's "crossing the line" which is a shame because if done right there is nothing wrong with nudity and sex in video games. After all we all get naked and have some type of sex depending on what your in to. People need to stop being so damn prudish and grow up. Boobs, peens, vaggies, nips, butts.....there's nothing wrong with any of that.

Uh oh. I feel an article coming on......

Let me go on record to say I have no problem with nudity and sex in video games.. As long as they have appropriate ratings and markings, no problem WHATSOEVER ;)

I think its still the whole "video games are for kids" mindset. After all, Mario and Angry birds are kind of what some people think all video games are like. Not to say CoD doesn't have its big audience, but stuff like the Wii and what Microsoft is doing for Kinect doesn't showcase the diversity of what types of games are out there, not that it's necassarily a bad thing to soley go for the younger audience.
