He wanted to raise $400,000, and at the time of this post, he's already gathered $904,778. That's in less than one day! Notch from Minecraft is involved, also.
This is a swift kick to the gonads of all the publishers who seem to think Adventure games are a thing of the past, and something video game fans don't want to play anymore. Good on you, Tim and Notch. We'll be following your progress through the documentary with huge smiles on our faces.
If you'd like to contribute to the cause and help Double Fine make this game, then click, here! Report
February 9, 201214 yr comment_53378 So, since they are taking funding to create the game, what are their pricing plans?I have to wonder if they will reward early investors with a discount or what? This is asked without watching the video. So maybe it's already explained.Oh nm. Just read the backer page. Looks pretty awesome. For $15 you can have te opportunity to see the game as its developed and even post your own input. Very awesome concept. Report
February 9, 201214 yr Author comment_53384 It's exciting to watch for me. It's on par with Louis CK and his $5 comedy album that did so well. As I said on Twitter, there's got to be a bucket load of industry execs sweating serious bullets right now. We're proving that there doesn't need to be a middle man anymore. We've evolved past it, and they're quickly becoming unneeded.Watch out Activision and EA. Better start a new campaign to get the fans on your side, and also start to treat them better. This is your wake up call. Report
February 9, 201214 yr comment_53385 Publicly created games. Pretty damn awesome. I like the idea that when people inevitably start bitching you can tell them they coul have had a say in the game. If the price of the game reflects the public backers then the big companies really will be sweating. Instead of a few large players pulling the strings there will be thousands of smaller players putting real input into it. And can you imagine the money saved in lack of advertisement. With something like this there is already so much attention you won't need it. Report
