The Skyrim Creation Kit has been officially released (installed via the tools menu in Steam) along with the introduction of the Steam Workshop for Skyrim. Looks like the surprise we were promised isn’t a let down. Along with the release of the Creation Kit an official High Resolution Texture Pack has been released! You can download it HERE. It weighs in at a little over 3GB and has slightly higher requirements so be sure to check them before you jump in.

So, installed the texture pack and it's bloody awesome. So glad they did this! It's hard for me to tell a difference because I was using a user created one, but this DLC is very thorough. From my quick over view it upped the textures on everything dragons to cups and bowls!

At first it's kind of hard to tell, but what I noticed was improved a lot was clothing, fabrics, and armors. Where the textures were once somewhat muddy, they are now sharp as they should be. Not everything was improved, it's not exactly a night and day difference, but they cleaned and sharpened it up a good bit.
