Ace Combat: Assualt Horizon demo

Featured Replies

Anyone else play it? I haven't followed the series from the beginning or very consistently, having only played 4(which I loved) and 6(which I also loved, even in spite of it's terrible DLC plan), but this....felt like another Splinter Cell Conviction to me. Hated just about everything about it. Hated the dogfight mode that pretty much turned it into an on rails shooter, hated the default controls, hated the way the camera jerks around, hated the helicopter mission, hated that you appear to have regen health(?). Just felt like they tried to make it into a CoD/HAWX game.

Anyone else try it out yet?

Wonder if they'll pull an nba elite...

Nah, that game works fine I suppose, I just found it....not fun. It felt super scripted and almost on rails(which dog fight mode pretty much is, since it just follows the enemy plane for you), granted it was the tutorial mission, but hitting planes a bunch and having them not go down because it didn't get to a certain part of the map yet is not a good thing to notice(also, it seemed to take a lot more machine gun to take down enemies, and it seemed like it took 2-3 missiles rather then 1-2).

I'm sure someone will enjoy it, but I don't think a lot of Ace Combat fans will.

P.S. - I barely heard the missile lock sound in the demo, and that is just plain wrong, even if it is the first mission. When I play an Ace Combat game, I expect to hear BEEP BEEP BEEP constantly : P
