One of Many Deep Sea Puzzles The game may sound easy on the surface, but a number of interesting blocks make the puzzles much more difficult then moving a few blocks out of your way. Blockado Deep Sea is the fourth and most difficult installment of the Blockado series. With the change of difficulty also comes a change of scenery. As the name would imply your puzzle solving skills are put to the test under the sea. The sea overlay and subtle ocean sounds provide a nice relaxing atmosphere to solve the puzzles in. Deep Sea builds on the Blockado puzzle solving series where you must get a treasure chest to the exit. You are challenged to do this in a certain amount of moves, with fewer moves resulting in a higher star rating. The problem is you have other blocks in your way and, with the exception of one, they can only be moved lengthwise.

The Important Stuff Let me start off by saying one thing that will blow your mind: This game plays like Bushido Blade. If you haven't played Bushido Blade, shame on you. If you have, then that last sentence may have you wondering how I could even compare the two. Allow me to explain. In Bushido Blade, most battles are won by a single, unparried strike. While you may not be able to kill your opponent in one hit in Deadliest Warrior (unless you hit them in the head just right), it only takes one o

I apologize in advance that this review is probably not too all-encompassing of the game, I had an obstacle on my way here. Tips and Tricks - Make use of the larger plasma cannon when you can, but do it safely - As with all shmups, try and learn the enemy attack patterns Reaction While the game may be on the short side, it is definitely a great top down shooter. The new gameplay mechanic of having all your ships/lives on screen at once is really fun and can get pretty intense in the later levels. The risk/reward of the more powerful plasma shot versus maneuverability is something I think other games should tr

Platforms: Xbox 360 (Xbox Live Indie Games)

Players: Singleplayer and 2-Player Local Co-Op

      Unrated by the ESRB

      Link to Purchase from Microsoft

      The Breakdown

Beached whales, pies, random ships, and a gigantic metallic breasted woman that shoots glowing bullets. Those are just a few of the enemies you’ll face in this shoot ‘em up. The game can draw comparisons to Ikaruga, but strays from the normal conventions of a shoot ‘em up style game or shmup as they have become known.

      The Important Stuff

Described by the developer (Mommy’s Best Games) as a “shoot ‘em up for regular gamers”, this is one of the best Xbox Indie Games I’ve played to date. You take control of not just one ship, but your initial 3 ships right from the start. As you pick up extra ships through 1-Ups, they are all on screen at once. You can have up to 30 of them on screen at one time and potentially up to 120 if you play the local only co-op and get the “Mirror” power up.

You determine how far apart or close together your ships are using the right and left triggers. This is a risk/reward scenario, though. The further apart your ships are the harder they are to maneuver around the enemies, but you get a more powerful plasma shot. This definitely brings a new level of strategy to the game play. The bullet patterns aren’t entirely crazy in this one, as they are in most shmups. If you want more of a challenge you can crank the difficulty and the game speed for more of a challenge.

The graphics in Red Dead Redemption are very crisp, even standing up to the age old sniper scope texture examination (you know you do it too). Everything is very detailed, from the foliage, to the wildlife, to the rolling landscape visible for dozens of miles in every direction. The sound is great, with all of the sound effects sounding realistic and highly immersive in surround sound. The music is very fitting and ambient, with piano and guitar music that are staples of the Western theme, and c

      Published by: Rockstar Games

Players: 1 offline, 2-16 player online multiplayer

Rated M (Mature) by the ESRB

      The Breakdown

Rockstar is known for making massive, open, driving and shooting games. But what happens when they turn back the clock and make a game set in the early 1900s, when the West was still untamed, and the automobile had barely been invented? Was this bold move a good idea, or should Rockstar stick to making games set in the modern era? Find out in the rest of this review.

      The Important Stuff

Red Dead Redemption is an absolutely massive free roaming game set in the old frontier days of the beginning of the 20th century. You play as John Marston, a former outlaw with a mysterious past, who keeps mostly to himself. He is working for the government to hunt down his fellow gang members, and it isn't revealed why he is helping them until partway through the game. As with many of Rockstar's games, you deal with various people with their own sets of issues, that have a laundry list of tasks for you to complete for them before they'll help you out with your own mission. Similar to the Grand Theft Auto franchise, the dialog in the game is very poignant and clever, with excellent voice acting. You really do end up hating many of the people you have to work for, and caring for some of the people that John cares about. You have to deal with all of the dark aspects of humanity, from hypocrites to charlatans, and everything in between. Once again, Rockstar brings a gritty and realistic world to life, while at the same time infusing it with their own excellent sense of humor.

Overall, the game play remains largely unchanged from previous versions, which isn’t a bad thing at all. You’re still defending your front yard, back yard, and roof from the oncoming zombie onslaught. All the mini games from the other versions are intact as well. Plants Versus Zombies has become the standard tower defense game for most people. Starting out on the PC and making the excellent jump to the iPhone and iPad, the game faces the same challenges as most point and click games do when making the jump to a console, the controls. How do you keep that same feeling of using a mouse with analog sticks? Luckily for us, Popcap has really done a great job in making the controls feel just right in this latest port. Kratos has been on a mission of vengeance for the death of his family for over 5 years. Gods, Titans, and a bestiary full of monsters have stood in his way, but not even death could stop Kratos’ quest for the revenge he so desperately desires. Using a narrative that ties together every single game in the series, including God of War: Chains of Olympus on the PSP, the death of Zeus is finally within Kratos' grasp in this, the final game, in God of War series.

      The Important Stuff

Picking up right where God of War 2 left off, Kratos is on the back of the mother of the Titans, Gaia, as they ascend Mount Olympus. Gaia and Kratos are soon attacked by Poseidon. Both Gaia and Poseidon utterly dwarf Kratos. During the battle you are forced to make your way across the back, arms, and hands of Gaia to make your way to the eventual face-off with Poseidon. This opening sequence of the game is one in a laundry list of incredible set pieces that really give you a sense of the grand scale the game is trying to achieve. And achieve this goal it does. On his way to the final battle with Zeus, Kratos is forced to face lesser gods, such as the aforementioned battle with Poseidon, a battle with Helios (Which is different than the demo we were given, which was surprising.), and a chase with Hermes.

The shooting and cover mechanics feel smooth, though the actual aiming can be a little clunky at times. Your bullets only seem to hit when the dot in the center of your reticule is directly on the enemies, not any other part of the circle, as if the gun doesn't have enough spray or is a bit too accurate. This doesn't help when all of the robots you fight throughout the game take an ungodly amount of bullets to kill unless you aim carefully for the head (but to be fair, I was playing the game on

Yes, the plot of Dark Void is very cliche, but that doesn't keep it from being entertaining, if for nothing else than the cheesiness. But that's not the point of the game. Dark Void is exactly what it appears to be: a jetpack game, and no, you don't have to collect spaceship parts or fuel to beat the levels. You don't get the jetpack until near the end of the first act, or "Episode" (the game is divided up into three of these), but I found the gameplay to be rather solid even without the jetpack.

Castlevania is a traditionally single player only franchise, not known for having any multiplayer. Will Konami's first truly multiplayer focused Castlevania title please fans, or is it a disappointment? Read on to find out.

      The Important Stuff

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is essentially a loot game. You don't level up your character in the game like Symphony of the Night, but rather you increase your stats by getting better weapons, armor, and accessories. This may sound a bit strange at first, but there is a very clear sense of character progression as you continue to upgrade your equipment.

There are 5 characters in the game from various Castlevania titles, including Alucard, Soma, Jonathan, Charlotte, and Shanoa. Each of them has a unique style of play and their own set of skills that can be leveled up in various ways based on who you are playing as. For instance, Soma has a chance of gaining souls from any slain monsters, which can be used as attack spells or equipped like an accessory to boost stats, depending on the soul, while Charlotte has a magical shield that blocks enemy magic and has a chance to absorb it to use for herself. Acquiring multiple souls or spells will increase that particular ability's level. Jonathan and Shanoa have subweapons and magic spells respectively which are found by defeating enemies and leveled up through use. Alucard's spells only level up by getting them from chests, bosses, or scrolls dropped by enemies.

Most of the quests have a tie in with the story, and I never felt forced to do a filler quest just to advance through the game. Everything had a purpose and often more than one. The Witcher 2 starts with Geralt coming awake to find himself in a dungeon facing execution for the murder of a king. From there he is interrogated by Vernon Roche to recall the details of the last battle and how the king died. The story is recalled in pieces and The Prologue unfolds this way. I would love to tell you more , but so much of the game revolves around the excellent story that anything I could tell would be spoiling the fun. Instead, I'll cover the overview of it.

The story is fluid and compelling, but not without it’s flaws. If you don’t pay attention the story can be hard to follow. It moves in a lot of different directions with a lot of different names very fast. However, there is an excellent journal with information on all the characters, places, events, creatures, and even some of the dialogue you encounter. So, if you find yourself lost in the story you can quickly catch up there. I actually found myself spending a lot of time reading the books and taking in the history of the world. The information from the books you read is almost always transferred to your journal for you to look at later. This method of story telling allows the very cinematic approach the game takes while keeping the background and depth of a book and RPG.

The game starts in a very familiar way, but with some subtle differences. Einstein is loaded in to the DeLoreon and sent 1 minute in to the future. This is where things that you thought you knew, go off the rails. Once you take control of Marty you are put in Doc's lab to get a feel for how things will play. The controls handle well for an adventure game. Using the left control stick you will guide Marty around in the lab and run in to a few familiar characters. You'll also recognize quite

88 miles per hour, a DeLoreon, stolen plutonium, 1.21 gigawatts, and a Flux Capacitor. Those are the things it takes for time travel to be possible. Thanks to Doc Brown we know this and understand it. Sort of. I mean, what the hell is a gigawatt anyway. I guess for the purposes of this review that's neither here nor there. Just know this going in, Doc is in trouble and it's up to you to control Marty and figure out what's going on and save Doc.

The table has a ton of rail chutes and ramps that are integral to the different table missions. With spinning towers and magical trees, your ball is sent literally all around the table and with practice you'll rack up millions of points and complete each mission. Collecting the obsidian throughout will eventually lead you to the final showdown with the Sorcerer. Also, be sure to note the 4 flippers on the table. The flipper at the very top left of the table can be obscured in some views, but

Zen Studios has had a steady stream of new tables for their really great pinball simulator Pinball FX2. As all my other table reviews has shown, even someone who isn't a huge fan of pinball and have a blast with these tables. Will Sorcerer's Apprentice keep this trend rolling? Here's the rundown of the table's story. Jake and Amanda come face to face with an Evil Sorcerer in his citadel. The kids have no choice other than to fight the Sorcerer and his summoned creatures by using their pinball prowess and a specter named Whisper. A fairly simple premise but once you get down to the pinball, things get really interesting.

As Sisyphus, you will roll your boulder through five different time periods. Each new level, you are given a castle and tasked with protecting your gate with towers, cows, dynamite barrels, and catapults. Here in lies the big problem with the game, the tower defense mechanic. While not completely bad, it truly is the weakest link in this chain of events. You are given a rather large play area to build your units that are used to protect your castle. As with most tower defense, you pay money

Ever wanted to crush Napoleon with a giant boulder? How about Marie Antoinette, Louie XIV, or Leonidas? In Rock of Ages, that's just what you'll get the chance to do, if you can smash through their castle door before they smash yours. Part tower defense and part Marble Madness, with a Monty Python sense of humor is what is on tap here. Read on to find out if the game rolls to victory or gets smashed with a resounding fart.

From any other developer the concept of Rock of Ages would just be odd, however ACE Team is known for Zeno Clash. Rock of Ages is a 3rd person/1st person fighting action-adventure game. So combining genres is nothing new for them. You play the main story as Sisyphus. If you don't know the story of Sisyphus, he is a character in Greek mythology that is punished by Zeus. His punishment? He is forced to roll a giant boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down, for all eternity. Through a very Monty Phython-esque intro video, this story is told. However, unlike the mythology, Sisyphus gets tired of rolling the boulder and decides to use it to escape. Thus begins our adventure through time.

Big Science labs is the setting for this latest entry and much like the 2 games in the series, none of the experiments are going quite as planned. With Splosion Man captured, she will have to utilize all the gadgets in the lab to save him from the Mighty Eternal. Much like the full non-pinball game, the main goal of the table is to 'splode' as much as possible to save him. The aesthetic of the table really does a great job of conveying the feel of the Splosion Man universe. Bright colored exp

Twisted Pixel and Zen Studios have teamed up to bring us another table in the number one pinball simulator on gaming consoles, Pinball FX 2. Ms. Splosion Man graces us with her presence in this latest release. Does it live up to the standards set by Marvel and the other Zen Studios tables? Splode on through and let’s see.

"Slicing" may be a bit generous here. While the mechanic works great, it becomes more of a flailing of your arms than precise ninja like skills. It's not as easy to pick up and play as the mobile version, but overall it works much better than anticipated. There are multiple game modes to keep you entertained. Classic Mode asks you to slice as many pieces of fruit as possible without slicing a bomb or missing 3 pieces of fruit. Arcade Mode adds in bonus bananas that can double your points, fr

Cutting fruit. Sounds simple right? Well, when put in game form it becomes an astonishingly addictive concept. You are a ninja whose sole purpose is to cut fruit. Previously it was limited to the mobile market. Deft finger flicks would allow you to slice through fruit and avoid bombs. Can Halfbrick bring this same game play to Kinect?

If you've played the mobile version, you know the deal here. Fruit is thrown up on the screen and you have to use your hands to slice it. Slicing multiple fruit at once gives you multipliers and you gain more points. Occasionally, game ending or point sapping bombs will be thrown across. Don't slice those.

Graphically this is a stunning 2D sidescroller. The look of the game is very reminiscent of the latest Castlevania games. Backgrounds move independently from the foreground and enemies jump in and out from all directions. The game animations flow seamlessly between each other, much like Bayonetta. Enemies are extremely varied and are all just as well designed as Bloodrayne herself. The soundtrack is also another strong point for Bloodrayne Betrayal. From the title screen you get piano ball

BloodRayne hasn't had the best track record. A couple of lackluster action games from the last console generation probably doesn't have many excited for this new iteration. Will the drastic departure from the original's style be enough to win over new fans? Let’s delve in to this 2D blood fest and see what we get. When WayForward announced they were working on a Bloodrayne title for XBLA, it was a pretty big shock. Their last game, A Boy and His Blob was really. A button dedicated to sucking the blood out of your enemies is a HUGE departure from the dedicated button for hugging. I've never been a fan of the Bloodrayne series, but I think I've been converted after this one.
