Once the tutorial is complete the rest of the menu is opened and you are free to enjoy all of the games modes. Campaign, Zombie Survival, Wave Survival, Gladiator matches, Base matches, Death matches, even a league of legends like Space Defense League. The graphics are good for an indie title and the sound is excellent, but what really sets this game apart is the story and universe it creates. With a wonderful sense of humor I haven’t felt since the heyday of Sierra’s games Space Quest and King

As Sisyphus, you will roll your boulder through five different time periods. Each new level, you are given a castle and tasked with protecting your gate with towers, cows, dynamite barrels, and catapults. Here in lies the big problem with the game, the tower defense mechanic. While not completely bad, it truly is the weakest link in this chain of events. You are given a rather large play area to build your units that are used to protect your castle. As with most tower defense, you pay money

Ever wanted to crush Napoleon with a giant boulder? How about Marie Antoinette, Louie XIV, or Leonidas? In Rock of Ages, that's just what you'll get the chance to do, if you can smash through their castle door before they smash yours. Part tower defense and part Marble Madness, with a Monty Python sense of humor is what is on tap here. Read on to find out if the game rolls to victory or gets smashed with a resounding fart.
From any other developer the concept of Rock of Ages would just be odd, however ACE Team is known for Zeno Clash. Rock of Ages is a 3rd person/1st person fighting action-adventure game. So combining genres is nothing new for them. You play the main story as Sisyphus. If you don't know the story of Sisyphus, he is a character in Greek mythology that is punished by Zeus. His punishment? He is forced to roll a giant boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down, for all eternity. Through a very Monty Phython-esque intro video, this story is told. However, unlike the mythology, Sisyphus gets tired of rolling the boulder and decides to use it to escape. Thus begins our adventure through time.

Apparently you not only make the player the president of the United States, but also give them superpowers. Saint's Row IV is a bit of a departure, even from how wacky the last game got. The Earth is threatened by evil alien overlord Zinyak, and the player and the gang are abducted right out of the oval office. Being trapped in a simulation a la The Matrix leads to some interesting gameplay possibilities, as well as tons of awesome references. It's not long before you start getting super powers

The map, with clans shown. From here you can choose who to play as. The visual aspects of Sengoku are beautiful. Being a grand strategy, interface design is very important, and this game does not fail to deliver. Menus are neat and tidy, buttons look great and are nice to look at. However, in some areas buttons or menus can be hard to navigate if you do not already know what you are doing. There is a learning curve, but it is not as steep as some games in this category. A big step forward in thi

Sengoku is a grand strategy game based on the “Sengoku Jidai” or “Warring-States” period of Japanese history by Paradox Interactive. Players can take control of the leader of a clan, the leader of a state within a clan, or the leader of a smaller area within those states, with the ultimate goal of overthrowing the current shogun and retaining that power.
There are many historical clans, daimyos and smaller characters to play as in Sengoku. In fact, it is quite overwhelming. When choosing who to play as, players are greeted with a full map of Japan, with different view modes to outline the land each character controls. Playing as a clan means players can be much more powerful, dealing with diplomacy first-hand and commanding the armies of the entire clan. However, it also means that players must keep the individual states satisfied. If you are not careful in your leadership, there may be revolts and rebellions. As smaller daimyo leaders or individual characters, players can eventually break off from the clan and forge their own clans.

Sequence is a bit of an odd mix. It's a rhythm game with RPG elements such as item drops, equipment and leveling, but it requires just as much skill progression on the player's end as it does for developing your character's level. In the game you must fight a series of monsters and a boss on each of the seven floors of a tower, with your ultimate goal being to reach the top and escape. Three boxes with incoming notes are presented to you and you must switch between them to perform different t

Graphics aside, the gameplay is very smooth. You can perform light and heavy attacks, use guns, grappling moves, and (thankfully) move around and jump. It has very standard controls, but it's in the way that you combine them that the game gets interesting. Throughout the game you get a variety of weapons, from the default shanks and chainsaw, to machetes, a shotgun, and my personal favorite, a chain that you wrap around your fists to attack your enemies' weak points for massive damage. We gamers love violence. It's a well known fact. So a game about a dude running around shanking fools and cutting them up with a chainsaw already has enough to appeal to the average hardcore gamer. But is it just an overindulgent cash in, or is it a finely crafted outlet for your murderous rage?
As it turns out, it's both. It's a delightfully overindulgent outlet for your murderous rage. And it has a fairly good story as well. Sure it was published by EA and released for the usual $15, but the design behind the game is very good. The art style is very unique, having a very cool Saturday morning action cartoon look. A more recent comparison would be to say that it looks similar to The Venture Brothers (whose art style was in turn inspired by Johnny Quest). The result is a game with an awesome, almost graphic novel-like appearance.

Tips and Tricks - Make use of the larger plasma cannon when you can, but do it safely - As with all shmups, try and learn the enemy attack patterns Reaction While the game may be on the short side, it is definitely a great top down shooter. The new gameplay mechanic of having all your ships/lives on screen at once is really fun and can get pretty intense in the later levels. The risk/reward of the more powerful plasma shot versus maneuverability is something I think other games should tr

Shoot 1Up

The Breakdown
Beached whales, pies, random ships, and a gigantic metallic breasted woman that shoots glowing bullets. Those are just a few of the enemies you’ll face in this shoot ‘em up. The game can draw comparisons to Ikaruga, but strays from the normal conventions of a shoot ‘em up style game or shmup as they have become known.
The Important Stuff
Described by the developer (Mommy’s Best Games) as a “shoot ‘em up for regular gamers”, this is one of the best Xbox Indie Games I’ve played to date. You take control of not just one ship, but your initial 3 ships right from the start. As you pick up extra ships through 1-Ups, they are all on screen at once. You can have up to 30 of them on screen at one time and potentially up to 120 if you play the local only co-op and get the “Mirror” power up.
You determine how far apart or close together your ships are using the right and left triggers. This is a risk/reward scenario, though. The further apart your ships are the harder they are to maneuver around the enemies, but you get a more powerful plasma shot. This definitely brings a new level of strategy to the game play. The bullet patterns aren’t entirely crazy in this one, as they are in most shmups. If you want more of a challenge you can crank the difficulty and the game speed for more of a challenge.

The table has a ton of rail chutes and ramps that are integral to the different table missions. With spinning towers and magical trees, your ball is sent literally all around the table and with practice you'll rack up millions of points and complete each mission. Collecting the obsidian throughout will eventually lead you to the final showdown with the Sorcerer. Also, be sure to note the 4 flippers on the table. The flipper at the very top left of the table can be obscured in some views, but

Zen Studios has had a steady stream of new tables for their really great pinball simulator Pinball FX2. As all my other table reviews has shown, even someone who isn't a huge fan of pinball and have a blast with these tables. Will Sorcerer's Apprentice keep this trend rolling? Here's the rundown of the table's story. Jake and Amanda come face to face with an Evil Sorcerer in his citadel. The kids have no choice other than to fight the Sorcerer and his summoned creatures by using their pinball prowess and a specter named Whisper. A fairly simple premise but once you get down to the pinball, things get really interesting.

Overall story is nonexistent here. You are a ship that is set loose in a puzzle with fairly straightfoward tasks. Light the stars, collect the items, or cross the line before the time runs out. It sounds simple, but once you get going in the level, controls are limited to attaching to posts around the level and using momentum as your control. Zero gravity also play a big roll here. Terraria is an 2D open ended world builder game, where players are free to create what they like. The game supports both single and multiplayer modes. Players enter the world with naught but the clothes on their back and some copper equipment, and are left alone to make a world for themselves.
Players first create a character and are able to modify the colour of each of the basic components of their character. This character and its inventory stay persistent across all worlds, both single and multiplayer. The playing area, a “world”, can than be generated completely at random. Up to five worlds can currently be created, and any world can be used in both single and multiplayer.
Also present is a full day/night cycle. During the day various slimes roam about on and under the surface, ready and willing to annoy the player. At night, things get interesting, with zombies, flying eyeballs and other creatures stalking around. This makes it essential to quickly build some some of shelter for the night time.

Harmonix took a definite “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach in the game. The basic structure of Rock Band is still intact here. The only major addition is the 3 part harmonies on the vocals. Take the already popular Rock Band and mix it with one of the biggest bands in the world, The Beatles. Throw in a developer that absolutely loves The Beatles and you will get The Beatles: Rock Band.
The Important Stuff
Let me preface this review by saying this, it will be a little skewed because I am a huge Beatles fan. From the beginning intro video, all the way through to the very end of the story mode, you can tell Harmonix has the same love for the group as any Beatles fan does. Apple Corps obviously saw this in the developer as well, by giving them unprecedented access to photos, recording studio sessions, and many extras that will be new to fans. The sometimes overprotective owner of the rights to The Beatles franchise also gives Harmonix the rights to allow full downloadable albums, starting with Abbey Road soon after the games release. Keep in mind that Beatles music can’t be legally downloaded from ANY of the download services as of yet, so this is a huge deal for Harmonix.

Speaking of controls, this may be the only problem I have with the game. You control The Gunstringer’s movements with one of your hands (Depending on whether you’re left or right handed.) and with the other you control the guns, sword, or fist. Each level starts with you picking up The Gunstringer and getting started with the level. With your free hand you aim your “gun” as if you were a child playing cops and robbers. As you select up to six targets with the reticule, you jerk your hand back as

Twisted Pixel is known for their breakout Xbox Live Arcade Games The Maw, ‘Splosion Man, Comic Jumper, and Ms. ‘Splosion Man. Will their first disc based game live up to the standards of their previous endeavors? Will The Gunstringer be the first “Must Buy” game for the Xbox Kinect add-on? I’ve played it and in the paragraphs below, I will answer all of these questions. Not to spoil it or anything, but the answer is YES!!
As I said, Twisted Pixel is known for their XBLA games. Their wit and comedy are infused in to every game and The Gunstringer is no exception. Right from the start you are give a sense of how things will go down. You are The Gunstringer, a double crossed cowboy that has come back to life as a skeleton marionette to take revenge on your posse. Sure, it sounds like a simple enough setup; however the presentation of the game as a miniature theatrical production makes things a lot different. As such, the characters and backgrounds are made out of everything from cardboard, to wood, to pipe cleaners. Also, being a theatrical production, all this takes place in front of a live studio audience. At key moments you get glimpses of audience reactions and there is also the occasional human hand intervention in to the story. This really does add to the effect of the game. It’s great fun to see an audience reaction as you smash the face in of a half crocodile, half lumberjack creature, or to see a somewhat Mystery Science Theater-esque crowd in front of sections of the game, cheering and high-fiving each other. The aesthetics of the game really go a long way to making you enjoy the game
even more and the ending sequence had me laughing so much I kept losing control of my guns on-screen.

There's not much room for evolution of the match-the-colour puzzle game, but there are many ways to spice things up, which is exactly what Zuma's Revenge accomplishes very well. There's not a big story behind the game, except that you are a frog, and there is an evil presence you have to eliminate by shooting coloured balls out of your mouth to match up with the same colour balls which are in columns all around you, before the columns get swallowed by a mouth of doom (that's what I call it). Zuma's Revenge is a puzzle game first and foremost. I played the first Zuma game a while back, maybe one or two levels in the demo, and I'm pretty sure I was turned off by it immediately. I am not big on puzzle games, never have been, though I was a sucker for a couple of the old school puzzle games, such as Tetris and Dr. Mario, and this game is very similar to it, albeit 20 years after those games came out, it's the same premise.

What happens when you combine the style and humor of Castle Crashers with gameplay reminiscent of Diablo? Magic happens. Or rather Magicka happens, to be more precise. That's not to say that Magicka is very much like either of those games, rather it has a very distinct style of its own. But like Castle Crashers it is a stylish, humorous, and fun experience that can be played and enjoyed with friends, and like Diablo the game has very smooth, isometric gameplay where you can run around slaughtering hordes of monsters and fiends to your hearts content.

How many games let you slaughter kittens? Not many. Not that it's a good thing, but they are good for easy experience points. Kitten slaughter aside, Mark Leung: Revenge of the Bitch contains all manner of hilarious and disturbing content. From getting farted on by b*tchmonkeys, to using jellyfish penises to revive your fallen comrades, this is one very... different RPG.
Mark Leung: Revenge of the Bitch plays like a fairly traditional RPG, with some of the niceties of newer ones like being able to see and avoid monsters in the world without having to worry about random battles every 5 steps. But you will soon discover that the game is anything but a traditional RPG. It is a satirical, messed up version of an RPG, where every monster is some kind of spoof or joke, and all the dialog is simultaneously disturbing and hilarious. If you are familiar at all with RPGs you will laugh a lot in this game. Even if you're not, there is enough clever writing and enough awesome memes in the game that pretty much anyone can find some humor in it. You rarely ever see a game with as many awesome references as Revenge of the Bitch, some of them blatantly obvious, others more subtle. Actually most of them are pretty obvious, but it's part of the games irreverent style, much like Family Guy.

Rockstar is known for making massive, open, driving and shooting games. But what happens when they turn back the clock and make a game set in the early 1900s, when the West was still untamed, and the automobile had barely been invented? Was this bold move a good idea, or should Rockstar stick to making games set in the modern era? Find out in the rest of this review.
The Important Stuff
Red Dead Redemption is an absolutely massive free roaming game set in the old frontier days of the beginning of the 20th century. You play as John Marston, a former outlaw with a mysterious past, who keeps mostly to himself. He is working for the government to hunt down his fellow gang members, and it isn't revealed why he is helping them until partway through the game. As with many of Rockstar's games, you deal with various people with their own sets of issues, that have a laundry list of tasks for you to complete for them before they'll help you out with your own mission. Similar to the Grand Theft Auto franchise, the dialog in the game is very poignant and clever, with excellent voice acting. You really do end up hating many of the people you have to work for, and caring for some of the people that John cares about. You have to deal with all of the dark aspects of humanity, from hypocrites to charlatans, and everything in between. Once again, Rockstar brings a gritty and realistic world to life, while at the same time infusing it with their own excellent sense of humor.

This game has some amazing vistas! Metro’s story isn’t an entirely a new concept. Nuclear destruction wipes out society; society crumbles on itself and retreats underground to survive. I can find flaws in just about any game I play, Metro 2033 itself also not excused, but the presentation of the game and the world that I was thrust into more than made up for my small criticisms at the time. When Gamercide was offered an opportunity to check out the newly released Metro: Last Light I immediately jumped at the chance to once again to don my gas mask and explore the incredibly detailed desolate landscapes.

Namely that my version of the game proved too tricky (or broken) to advance. But that aside, let us venture forth into this empty void of our minds, to see what once lurked where memories should lay. I'm a clever little git, gettin all yo goodies Montague's Mount was a game that hadn't been too high on my radar, but did pique my interest when I saw the trailer of it.

The latest game takes us back to the Hyrule from the SNES days. It not only takes us back there, but literally uses the exact same map from A Link To The Past and this is my only extremely minor complaint with the game. The map felt all too familiar and a tad bit lazy on Nintendo’s part. While this was a very slight downside to the game, it is in no way a detriment to the game and can also be viewed as strong suite. When The Legend of Zelda released in 1987 I was 8 years old and it quickly became one of my favorite game franchises of all time. Through the years I have played and still own every single Legend of Zelda game that has been released. From the 1987 classic, to the downright travesties of the CD-i games, all the way through the latest A Link Between Worlds, I’ve played them all through to completion. While the original is still my favorite, I have loved them all (Yes even the terrible ones). I’m proud to say A Link Between Worlds is not terrible and is one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played in recent memory. I’m sorry if this ruined the ending of this review for you, but please read on to find out why this game is so good.
