At CES Kaz Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment Chief, somewhat detailed Sony's plan to unify all their products and offer premium media across the PS3, Vaio, Blu-ray, Bravia TVs, etc. A new studio called "Sony Network Entertainment" will be formed and Kaz will head this new studio. All this will use one username/password to access and purchase the content across all Sony devices. This could be big news for all those hardcore Sony fans that refuse to buy anything not branded with their logo. I'

Reportedly during their keynote address at CES, Microsoft will announce an "Xbox Game Room" to give gamers a retro gaming experience. Robbie Bach, president of the entertainment devices division, announced in a video interview earlier today that Microsoft plans to offer something akin to the compilations of older games that have been hitting the market lately. See Bach's quote after the break. It will be interesting to see what games are offered in this new "Game Room". Hopefully it won't ju

Microsoft announced at CES that Project Natal will be released this holiday season. No definite date was nailed down, nor was a price mentioned, or even a real name for the technology. I'm guessing closer to release we'll get more info. Stay tuned to Gamercide for updates as we get them.

Watching the gaming portion of Microsoft's keynote at CES 2010 was quite disappointing. There was only one new announcement (Game Room) and then retreads of trailers for Halo Reach, Alan Wake, and Crackdown 2. There was mention of the Modern Warfare 2 DLC coming this spring. I was very disappointed with what was shown (Or blacked out if you watched online) during the entertainment portion of the keynote. You can head over to Microsoft's New Center to watch the full keynote and a few of the vi

In a move that really surprises no one, Netflix and Nintendo have finally announced that Netflix streaming will be available on the Wii this spring.  As with the PS3, a disc will be needed to access the streaming on the Wii, as well as a $9 per month subscription to the Netflix service.  No additional fees from Nintendo or Neflix will be required. As I'm sure you are aware, the Wii does not have high-def capabilities, so no HD streaming will be available.  Hopefully with Netflix on all 3 major c

Today Ubisoft announced that both Splinter Cell: Conviction and R.U.S.E. have been delayed in to the companies next fiscal year. While Splinter Cell was given a release date, R.U.S.E. was given no tentative date. With both originally scheduled for release in February and Splinter Cell's numerous delays, this may not be a good sign for either.

A trailer for yet another video game to movie transition, this time for Namco's Tekken, though judging from the presence of Jin Kazama and Eddy Gordo, it would probably be more appropriate to call it "Tekken 3", but that would have messed with general movie goer's heads too much. (You'll also have to excuse the insertion of captions mocking /Film). So far, the film has only premiered in the United States on November 5, 2009, as part of the American Film Market Film Festival, hoping to find a dis

Fatal Frame fans were disheartened to learn that the latest iteration in the survival horror series, Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, would not receive an English translation/release from Nintendo due to poor sales in Japan. This is a shame, as the Wii controls seemed PERFECT for the unique "point and shooting" that the series is famous for. However, that hasn't stopped fans with plenty of time to work around the translation issue. One particular group has actually managed to develop a patch that r

Capcom has announced that they have added Tricell CEO Excella Gionne as a playable character in RE5: Gold’s Mercenary Reunion mode.  Why?  Your guess is as good as mine considering that fan favorite Leon should have been added, but who am I to get in the way of a gamer staring at video game boobage. Keep in mind that besides boobs, RE5: Gold will be offering new costumes for Chris and Sheva, along with the anticipated story of what really happened to Jill Valentine during the Spencer Mansion an

Fans of Mass Effect 2 may have taken notice to the free DLC that gamers will have access to upon launch showed up early on the Xbox 360’s marketplace.  In fact it was a whole day early and contained spoilers.  Since then EA has pulled the DLC, however if you managed to snag the freebies before it was taken down, you can still download it.  Everyone else will just have to wait until tomorrow. If you can't wait until tomorrow, you will find the list of free goodies that are full of spoilers at IGN

People of Scotland can rest a bit more easier at night knowing that their tax payer dollars are going to fund “Brain Training” for inmates in jail that includes the inmates being given Nintendo DS’s that contain brain training software. The decision made by Scottish officials was the right move because in their minds, inmates have a lessor chance of becoming a repeat offender if they play the “brain training” software on the DS by improving their employment chances. Say what? The government is

A lawyer from Horsham, PA is claiming that he has been misled about the Microsoft Points that he “purchased” to buy things through the Marketplace. Samuel Lassof is letting the accusations fly after he received an invoice stating that he made transactions buying points, but Lassof is saying that it’s Microsoft fault, because he couldn’t complete those transactions due to the way their download system works.
